Polls and telephone surveys - don't hang up. |
|
For years, I've been irritated to no end about the effin' deluge of telemarketers, pollsters, and telephone survey boneheads interrupting my quiet life at home. They really chafe my ass. Most of the time, I've usually muttered some vague obscenity and hung up.
Well, this afternoon, another one called 2 minutes after I got home from work. At first I thought "goddammit". For some reason though, I didn't hang up this time. WTF, over? I listened to the canned computerized "female" voice asking whom I would tend to vote for, who I favored strongly, who I disliked, who makes me puke, etc on a scale of 1 to 5. They asked pretty much everything, including State races. (I'm in South Dakota). And believe it or not, I actually made it through the 5 minute "hassle" and answered appropriately. Score one more "strongly favor" vote for Obama and the Democrat races in the SD polls, and a big zero for McPOW and Moosolini. I actually felt good about it for once.
I don't have a lot of time to volunteer, and I certainly don't have a lot of money... although I have contributed money to most of the campaigns what I can afford. I'm sure many of us are in the same situation.
Here's my thought. If instead of doing what *I* used to do... hanging up... if you get a call just sit through the damn thing and start skewing the polls more to our side. It only takes five minutes, and it's the least we can do.
cheers....

1. It's oddly satisfying sometimes |
|
Oddly enough, if I ever get a push poll from a Republican front firm, I would gladly answer their stupid questions, forcing them to spend money on a long distance call that they otherwise might put to good use helping their candidate get elected. I would be glad to prattle on pointlessly until the interviewer was force to hang up to save money!

5. Long distance is essentially free these days. |
|
As is the time of the interviewer, I suppose, but there are probably a limited number of volunteers.

2. I'm averaging one phone poll per day |
|
Only got one McCain sponsored poll before the DNC and since then it's been all Obama (or what I assume is Obama polling). I'm in Denver.
I'm also getting at least one Obama money/support call per day.
This has never happened before and I've been a voter since 1988.

4. The other day I was forced to tell off... |
|
a Obama phone caller, I explained that I just donated a few days ago, and that I don't have much...and I give when I can.
He just hammered away at me ..showing zero respect, I ended up hanging up the phone on the asshole.

seen it several times.
Hope it wasn't copyrighted... would hate for the MPAA or RIAA thugs to bust down my door for copyright infringement.
