I remember thinking Charlie Gibson was a bit of snob toward Obama

He fairly sneered at him in the NH debate about changing Washington and laughed at Barack's ethics reform. And we all know what a disaster the Philly debate was.

He treated Barack like an arriviste, but even he knows Barack is a titan compared with Palin. There's something about her nomination (witness the "hubris" question) that just might not sit well with an establishmentarian like Gibson.

I'm not praising Charlie Gibson for the way he dealt with Palin, just offering my view why he was more thorough than her than many of us thought he would be.

1. Yes, we do have to commend them when they do well, even if we had issues in the past...

If we encourage better journalism wherever we find it the better we will be. Although we shouldn't be overly upset if our side gets tough questions just as long as both side have an equal vetting. When journalism is done well prime example Rachel Maddow it's a check and balance on power.
