Okay, I watched that interview and I thought to myself, THIS is what people (meaning us) are worried about?

She came off as a total IDIOT. I've seen lowly McCain surrogates on MSNBC getting annihilated by Chris Matthews who come off more qualified than her.

Biden won't have to flex one aggressive muscle to show the world how inadequate she is. All he will have to do is put that vast knowledge of, well pretty much any issue you can think of, on the table, and she will be exposed for being the empty suit that she is.

1. Just talked to my mom, back East in the DC area. She's an Obama
supporter, but not a news or political junkie. And she's pretty much able to be objective.

Here is her quote: "I was totally unimpressed. She walked all the way around the barn to answer a question, and then still didn't answer. She was horrible."

Which qualifies her to be a "Republican strategist" on cable TV "News."

They'll raise expectations for Biden against her, then she'll do passably well and that's all that will be reported - how much better she was than "everyone expected". Throw in a couple of slight Biden mistakes (or manufacture them) and you've got a Palin victory.

We'll hear all about what a formidable debater Biden is ad nauseum for weeks beforehand. On the flip side we'll hear all about her lack of experience debating on this level, maybe even a sop or two about her being a woman, blah, blah, blah.... and if she is able to maintain her body in a basically upright position without wetting herself or bursting into tears and running from the stage, she'll be declared amazing and everyone will be talking about her surprising victory and what a game changer the whole debate was:eyes:

Americans, let alone the racism. I heard a interview on NPR of 7 white and 6 African Americans in PA this evening... Go listen to that (NPR.org) if you feel like getting overly confident. I was so distraught afterward, I just sat in the car, until my neighbor came up to ask me what was wrong....

9. I'm biased as hell, but even I thought she'd do better than that.
She was a total deer-in-headlights on the Bush Doctrine questions. "In what respect, Charlie?" She was looking for him to throw her a rope. "His world view...?" she asked, looking for a clue.

It was godawful. And her choppy delivery is just not the kind of stuff you're used to seeing at the Presidential politics level. I found it jarring, and again, although I was hoping she'd suck, I was amazed that she absolutely did.

10. Biden does have to be careful
He has to present his real knowledge of what is going on, particularly foreign policy. That is the expectations for him. If he doesn't sound like Einstein, he does not live up to expectations.

Palin has another set of expectations. We all are feeding this. She is perceived as a possibly a total twit, and possibly dangerous. Unfortunately, even Ms Sarah should be able to memorize enough pat answers to at least muddle through the debate without sounding like a total twit or dangerous. Biden will win the debate on substance, Palen exceeds expectations (low from the start) and lets voters sigh a sigh of relief that she is not such a total twit, she is not so dangerous, she is ok....

If Biden gets too forceful with her, he will be viewed as a sexist pig, and picking on poor defenseless Sarah Pooh. But if he can't get her off of script, the expectations game has me scared.

It will be interesting to watch, but I am not at as confident as some.

The one thing I am confident about is that her shrill ness and cockiness will come through. I think that the American people will see this and react negatively to it. The honey moon will be over. That is my hope.

She IS a twit.

I agree, and I think he knows two things ...

1) She just does not have the kncwledge base, not even close.
2) that she is cocky and shrill.

Joe will be VERY gentelmanly and VERY statemanlike and not do anything overtly toward her.

Then let people draw their own conclusions - the media and 40 percent partisans will think she was SPECTACULAR. WE, 40 percent of us, will want to puke. We can ONLY HOPE that the other 20 percent will see her to be horridly underprepared AND shrill twit she is.

From the few spots they read, I thought she did just fine. Of course she was scripted. I'm sure her crash course consisted of key words and how to respond to each of them. But to say she bombed is wrong! From the little I heard, she sounded reasonable, not a fanatic, and refrained from making any big mistakes.

19. I think the whole package gives a different impression...
she was extraordinarily uncomfortable and tried to hide it, and the fact that she was prepped was soooo obvious. Don't get me wrong, they're all prepped and they're all nervous, but she was just obviously over her head, IMO.

She didn't do anything OVERT, but the Bush Doctrine question came across as very, very telling to many people that she doesn't know what she is doing. It was very awkward, very much a "deer in the headlights" moment.

Whether or not people care that she doesn't know what she's doing, that's another matter....

She was repetitive and hit general talking points. But I didn't hear facts or specifics. It was just marketing speech without depth. And it was very clear she didn't have a clue what the Bush Doctrine is. She crabwalked and threw out banalities hoping she could bullshit her way out. Definitely not a person ready to lead our country. She refrained from mistakes because she didn't say anything.

That's part of why I didn't bother to watch. We all KNEW she wasn't going to be intrviewed like a Matthews would have done (sometimes), or a Russert on MTP!
Please don't misinterpret my statements. I don't think she's ready to be VP to an old guy who's already battled serious cancer 4 times, but I think it's silly to over analize an interview we all knew was going to be a softball.

52. Please stop saying these terrible misogynistic lies...
about the greatest politician in American history. For every lie you tell a fluffy little kitten dies. Do you like killing kittens?

You Sexist Kitten Killer!

53. From what little I saw of it,
I noticed her body language and posture. Sit up for God's sake! She was slouching and the finger wagging was obnoxious. But, it really doesn't matter what we think, it matters what the undecideds think.

65. It's all a matter of perception, unfortunately.
If the media indicates she did well or "held her own" we're in the same square today as we were yesterday.

66. This is THE news commentator job of a lifetime!
Boy, she really was calling upon every ounce of poise and diction she learned in her 8 broadcast classes in at least 3 colleges. This is why they like her--she's vacuously shallow, completely malleable, and pecker-raising pretty. :puke:

67. She only bombed on the Bush Doctrine and weasled on that.
Her voice drives me nuts. She comes across as a lightweight. But I'm not sure if independents and swing voter republicans would catch that or care. She didn't even bomb that bad on the Bush Doctrine question, but she did sound Pissy about it. That's the real Palin coming out, I bet.

Pissy Palin.

71. Joe will flash that million-dollar smile of his and
cut Mooselini off at the knees with nothing but the facts and not seem mean or ungentlemanly. He will fucking destroy her and never raise his voice. Even Andrea Mitchell said that this interview was a blueprint for Biden going after her. Like Joe needs her advice after 36 years in the Senate.
