The starting salaries in the military are ridiculously low for people who are putting their lives on the line.

in Military Service.

Though there should be real raises for Enlisted ranks, I'm not sure our Military can compete with the corporate salaries of the wealthy and well-connected in order to balance out the imabalance between the classes.

Obviously, they'll look at the "paltry" paycheck and think that they are making a "sacrifice"

But we ought to, at least, make a token gesture in order to get them to serve.
