Hey fellow DUers - I've felt like somewhat of a political activist for almost 25 years, having contributed to many organizations (environmental, social, hunger, DNC, individual candidates, etc.), and I've written my share of letters - and then emails; signed many petitions, both 'real' and online; baked cookies for MoveOn's 'biggest bake sale' ever a few months ago for Obama, and I once attended a scary abortion rights rally in Austin on the steps of the state capitol. But this is the first time I'm going to pound the pavement. I've just signed up to go to NM a few weeks before the election to work for 2-3 days, door to door I guess, along w/numerous others from TX. They're trying to get numerous people from TX to go to NM because although NM is a likely win for us, it'll be close, while TX is a loss when it comes to the prez race (argggghh).

Part of the reason I'm doing this that I was inspired by a buddy of mine in VA who did a similar thing and helped get Jim Webb get elected by a mere 7,000 votes. We all know how close these things can be.

So wish me and the rest of us luck, and more importantly, consider signing up in your own states, or to travel to a battleground state. All hands on deck! Let's fight the lies and bullshit, door to door!

7. SF for Obama opens their HQ Saturday on Market Street...

and Comrade Snarky and I will be there! Been working on a small local scale but am excited about being within the organization, so to speak. I'll do whatever they need me to do...calls, stuff envelopes, host a phone bank...hell, we can fix their computers if they need us to.
