of the natural-resource rich state of Alaska for almost two whole years not have met a foreign head of state? I would think with international fishing and whaling treaties, not to speak of the oil wealth, that the governor of Alaska would be meeting and greeting many people from foreign nations. Alaska is also part of the Pacific Rim and shares common interests with people of many countries. Perhaps the Governor's talents do not extend to diplomacy. Perhaps there is no real interest in getting together with others to explore common goals and try to solve shared problems. Perhaps there just isn't enough time in the day for such endeavors--what with the kids, the vendettas, the self-aggrandizement.
