Have we killed enough to avenge this day 7 years back?
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 10:10 PM by thunder rising
I am watching an archive of the 9/11 coverage of 7 years ago. I know what I was thinking and I had NO idea that we would kill and torture and shame ourselves for seven years...it's like we broke a mirror (seven years)

Go Obama I need to end this nightmare.

1. Exactly. I'm beginning to think this day of tribute exists to continue to sell Americans on war.

2. 1 american worth about 230 furrin lives.
3000 on 9/11 and 687079 for both Iraq and Afghanistan. Latter number from here:

Of course, that doesn't count the people who got sick from the dust and other things, and honestly, we value furrin lives so little that we don't even really keep track. It's only an estimate.

3. I honestly thought that when
the number of American soldiers killed in the Iraq war surpassed the number of people killed in 911, the American people would feel it wasn't worth it and shut it down. I was wrong.

4. Please note that I have a LONG record of for anti-Bush activity. 9/11 and then Iraq concreted it

7. "We" aren't avenging anything.
"We" are no avengers. This administration isn't in the avenging business. They're hitmen. Murderers for hire under a false cloak of patriotism.

8. We're on the same page. We only act like this because we think we are immune to retribution

11. Its a shame that Bush let him go
and that McCain is a proponent of giving him everything he has demanded of us.

12. Exactly right.
And then took us to war with a country that had nothing to do with the events that happened 7 years ago today. Fuckers.

13. One country not connected in any way
and another one that offered us OBL on a silver platter, providing we promised justice not revenge.

10. I was taking some college courses at the time
I knew a few very good professors, who I still regard as the smartest mo-fo's in the room. One of them, hearing the news, stated that he would eat anything we cared to name if at least 7 times as many innocent non americans were not dead by our hands before it was all done. I listened to Bush's speech that night, and I still had enough innocence to think he meant what he said, and maybe my country would take the high road and prove the prof wrong. I know better now.
