I will not vote ever again if we do not win this election.
I have made up my mind. Craig Ferguson did not tip it for me, however, he made me more aware of the fact of the people who do not bother to vote, including my husband, but I am done if Senator Obama does not win. I am not sorry about this decision because I became a US citizen in 1968 when I was able to vote for Senator Robert Kennedy.

I have DONE MY DUTY Craig, I have never missed a primary, special election, national election since the day I voted for Robert Kennedy.

I have seen this country change so much since I married 49 years ago today, strong and respected, but now over the last 8 years! America is supposed to be the beacon of hope. Hell, I even got upset when they just called the latest hurricane 'Ike'. The 'Ike' I know (not personally) was in office this very night (Septembert 11th 1959) and Ike saw my country through our darkest time, and without America, England would not have survived and I would not be here writing this message.

My spirit is low. I love and admire Senator Obama so much, I do not want to see him lose because of the colour of his skin. Our nation, the United States of America is in distress and if the idiots who voted for Bush plus if this election is stolen again, I dont know what to think anymore.

Back to having some wine. We already went out to dinner. Went to Bully's which is a local San Diego establishment.
Cheers. I will still belong to DU whatever the outcome of this election.

15. Nothing
I am going to pass on the mantle to the younger generation. If I cant get my husband to vote and he is an american, what good can I do?

I have voted for 40 YEARS. Not to repeat myself, but I have never missed ANY election, and god knows California has tested us in the last 5 years, just about 3 elections a year. And NO, in case you asked, I voted against the recall. Arnold never ever got my vote before, during and after.

I have voted on many things in San Diego during the last 40 years. And it is strange really, when I took my citizeship test, which was oral, I was only asked one question back then and it was a city question. Back then, my husband and I had only been stationed in San Diego 1 year so the person who interviwed me already knew we were not going to be staying in San Diego (the military had other ideas). I voted no on our baseball stadium and I will never vote for a new football stadium, and I voted no on a new airport, and I will be voting No on any port affair the republicans want in this town. Gosh my history is showing here....... I am NOT voting again if Obama does not win, I do not care anymore what happens to San Diego .. I am done after I vote in this election.

16. I forgot to add
I took adult night school to become a US citizen for 3 months, so I was all primed up for the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, 1812, the US Government, State and local - so I was knocked for a loop when I was only asked one single question about the city of San Diego and as I wrote above we had only been in San Diego a year. I dont remember what it was, but I passed.

It only took me 3 months when I applied for citizenship to become US citizen, I was told that the US was easier on the UK than any other country in the world. People in my class coming from other countries had a harder time, especially struggling with the english language... grilled for 2 to 3 hours and failing in interviews. I do not know how it is today. But I look back on it, and I think I was asked a hard question, I was young and not really interested in the local politics of San Diego, but I must have given him the right answer, because it was strictly a charter question about San Diego.

20. I can't say as I blame you
On the other hand... we're in Cali. our votes are just icing on the cake, so to speak. I could take election day off to smoke crack, and it most likely wouldn't make any more difference to anything than my vote for Obama in the primary did (HRC won Cali).

Take some time off if you need it. You got plenty of liberal freaks to cover your back (as long as the democrats don't go too "moderate"... in which case I walk too).

Ohh yeah, and several Indians I know (drove a cab for 10 years) passed the test too... despite "marginal" English skills. Seems like being able to answer Department of Motor Vehicle level difficulty questions in English is a lot more important than any history or Poli Sci stuff. Which, come to think of it, seems only right... since most of us Native Born 'Mericans don't know fuck all about any of that stuff.

(Ok, I'm native born, but only half 'Merican... must be why I wound up driving a taxi)

8. I know how you feel - but you know, we are all being tested & it is

important to fight the fight, keep fighting it, continually - I'm sure many on this board have ancestors who fought in the American Revolution - and we have a responsibility to fight for this democracy. Lecture over. My spouse keeps talking about Canada, too, and gets this same lecture.

5. They wish to break your spirit
but it's also possible that if we don't when then our votes just won't matter anymore.

They've almost dismantled government that we have even theoretical influence on, soon if we don't take them down the Republicans will bankrupt the country and cede us over to the corporations and maybe the Chinese, if we're lucky.

We must win.

Bring them down!

liberal paradise after we outlaw guns and nationalize the oil fields

We only need about 200,000 liberals disgusted enough with McCain and Palin to all move there and vote as a block. What will they do? Stop us from seceding after Palin's husband was part of that party for years.. I don't think so.

22. Indeed
like you said, "for my sanity... and the sake of our country". He has to win. Otherwise, I am not sure where we will stand with the US Constiution in the current hands. The media has already taken over the US and the Supreme Court is in the hands of people who do not put America first. America will be toast and will be right up there with Russia, unless the american people rebel and I do not see that happening in my lifetime, downstream but I do not see it happening until the American people are hurting everywhere.

Bush has made a lot of people wealthy here locally, and San Diego might be losing houses, but wealth is here, and as we were on our way to dinner tonight, we had to bypass a truck with a brand new Ferrari (spelling) was being delivered to whatever dealership who sells Ferrari's. I see a little slow down here, but I only see a slight recession and I am looking back 41 years.

25. I admit I am one of them
I worked fulltime for 9 months for Kerry and was depressed and angry for months after 2004 election. This time if the country is so stupid as to vote for a old man who is worse than Bush and a woman with no experience that doesn't believe in global warming, pro life and believes its the last days and threatens war with Russia...

I can't do it again. I barely am this time. Totally disgusted after the last election. I feel like this election has become American Idol and we might as well text who we want to win.
