My friend is in NY and called to tell me she saw Obama tonight
He was in a car going down the street and passed right by her. He had the window down and was waving at people on the street. She said he looked right at her and smiled.

She was pretty darned excited. :bounce:

2. It is a great feeling. I had the same
experience while walking to my car after seeing him in Milwaukee.

A group of motorcycle cops came out onto the street followed by Obama's SUV. He was smiling
and waving. Everyone on the street was so happy to have seen him this way.

3. I am THOROUGHLY convinced that if I could touch the hem of his garment....
.... it would clear up my skin and de-friz my hair!

I'd probably also lose five pounds.

No DOUBT in my mind. lol

5. I actually embarrassingly did just that when I saw him here in SF.
After he spoke to about a 5K venue audience, he hopped off the stage and came to me first; I was beckoning him and clearly wasn't going to take no for an answer! Anyway he slowly pivoted and was surrounded. After an embarrassing space of time, I realized I was holding his suit jacket like it was my blankie. I let go and moved away before the Secret Service stepped in. Ha!

14. Jast as long as we dont rip off his cuff link....
.... like they did with RFK.

Well, this is not the picture I'm looking for but I'm sure you've seen it, the one where (I believe) Rosie Grier is holding him and his shirt cuffs are open from where the crowd ripped off his cuff links. Anyway, gotta love the image parallel.

7. Dammit! I want to be near his greatness too!
And no goddammit, I'm not being facetious-- I want to just see him once because I love him so.

Is he even better in person than on TV???

11. Yes.
Get a chance to see him in the next 6 weeks. It is worth taking the time off, spending the money, using up the gas in your oil tank.
And bring your camcorder/camera.

13. just wish we knew their itineraries, that could be doable.
since I doubt they will campaign in Texas although it might kick them over down here if they did

10. My friend met him during the PA primary
she said she babbled the first sentence but got a grip after that.

The closest I've been to him is 30 feet away during a rally in PA. He was amazing. No teleprompter just spoke to the crowd. Some of it was standard stump speech but he mixxed it up to what was going on that day.

12. In Iowa, there were never any teleprompters, even on the last day, when he won the primary.

There weren't any metal detectors or bag checks, either.

The access was very innocent and Iowans loved him. Still love him.

Iowa will go bluer than a larkspur this year. Mark my words.

16. Years ago my mother had a similar glimpse of JFK...
and she almost swooned.

Talked about his smile for years.

She was an Adlai Stevenson democrat,
but JFK was the "MAN."
