Um' Obama was on TV today for the civil service forum and did a GREAT job |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 11:39 PM by TheDonkey
I'm sorry, I love the Palin-bashing and all but good GOD I went through about 4 pages of DU Palin hysterics and couldn't find anything about OUR candidate on TV doing a very good job laying out his vision on civil service and America.
Did anyone even bother to watch it?
For those of us that actually saw it, we saw what a REAL American President would look like. Someone who would make us proud of our government and hopeful about the future.

1. Did you find my daily thread with 50 Palin thread titles and links! |
|
More than an abundance, it is a veritable avalanche, Alaskan style.
Seems like we have no self control....and it will bite us in the ass. I want that clown off the superstar radar, but as long as the left is willing to make her the centerpiece of our elections, we are only killing ourselves. But you know what they say about Democrats....

not just here, but across the country.
Obama was great at the forum, and at Ground Zero.

30. Weird, I did the same thing. |

Watched the comparative analysis afterward. No comparison, McCain was, as usual, weak.
Have to give McCain a little credit for even showing up, he walked into the lion's den...Obama's alma mater. However, he did not prove to be a gladiator...did not slay the lion.
This thread, and others of its ilk, should be dominating here. Not Palin.

Here it is: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7038689&mesg_id=7038689I had only a few responses, so I'm guessing that not many people saw it. A pity. He hit it out of the ballpark and seemed very presidential.

13. I'm watching the re-run right now and DAMN. |
|
(Had to work, missed the earlier broadcast)
He is being absolutely brilliant, because this forum hits on the very subject that excites him most: community organizing on a GRAND scale. Meeting people one-on-one and convincing them, not only that community service is worthwhile but that each person is important.
I don't meet many people who say flat-out that they don't care to try to help others. I know a LOT more people who say it's their fondest dream but they don't know how, or that they're not very confident about having skills that are useful.
Obama is the man who can metaphorically look each one of those people in the eye and say, "Yes, you certainly can, and it's not as hard as you think. And you bet your contributions are valuable and important."
He's like the progressive 21st century version of that Uncle Sam Wants You poster. And that poster worked, and so will Obama.

17. A smart man talking to a smart audience (as he -- rightly--assumes we are) |
|
How refreshing is that?
Bush always talks like a cranky hungover principal addressing a room of slow 5-year-olds. I can't stand it. If I had kids, I wouldn't let anyone talk to them that way.

16. It's pretty incredible. He will make such an amazing President |
|
you can really tell what his values are and where he wants to take America. Contrasted with McClown who panders and spouts talking points but I am not even sure WHY he wants to be president other than the fact that he feels he's "paid his dues."

20. For McCain, I feel it's like he thinks it's just the next level to advance to. |
|
A lifelong military man with no imagination whatsoever who's always been taught (coming from a privileged officer family) that advancement was just what was due to and expected of men of his class.
If he ever had independent thought, it's gone now. Sarah Palin, now, she has thoughts and ideas--and they're all terrifying.

He was GREAT tonight, and it kind of overwhelmed me. No, I'm not a sycophant. In fact, I was for Edwards at first (yikes!), then couldn't decide between Obama and Hillary until SC. But I am an African-American who, the closer we get to Nov 4, the more the prospect of him winning knocks me over. And sometimes, the pride just gets to me. I'm usually stoic and detached, but sometimes, every so often...
