Note: Palin *never* was able to comprehend the Bush Doctrine in ABC interview
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 03:56 AM by krkaufman
Everyone has noted her "in what respect" diversion, and that Gibson eventually had to explain the premise of the Bush Doctrine to her, as "anticipatory self-defense" -- but none of the reviews I've seen have noted that, even then, she failed to understand the key controversial factor in the doctrine: the absence of an imminent threat.

Witness Palin's response, after Gibson finally explained the Bush Doctrine to her:
Palin: "... if there is a legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country."

No one would argue such a case. But that's not what the Bush Doctrine calls for with "anticipatory self-defense", or preventive war -- where "imminence" is not a consideration.

Anyone with a basic sense of civic responsibility, who voted in the 2004 election, let alone responsible for a state's National Guard, should have long ago learned and understood this distinction. (But I suppose it's not really all that surprising a response from someone who's said they really haven't thought about the Iraq war.)

2. She's on her tippie-toes, way out of her depth, hoping she can find some shoulders to stand on
to keep her nose above water.

4. I would have given it to her on the Gibson definition, personally.
But she just had no clue what he was talking about.

5. Which is ridiculous for someone in charge of a National Guard outfit ...
... let alone running for the 2nd highest office in the land.

People can say what they want about Obama's celebrity status, he's still a world-class intellectual with an impeccable personal and professional record in a competitive environment. To put this ignorant beauty queen on stage with him is to completely mock the process and the voters. It's devolved to the point where a spokesmodel could be President.

7. Charleee tried to give her the answer but she still blew the
quiz. She is not even qualified to be the Gov. I hope that the Legislature in AK Impeaches her.

9. Sarah Strangelove missed that flashcard.
She could be the most dangerous woman on the planet if she and McCain win, and she has total confidence. That's the advantage of knowing that God is on your side.
