Remember what it was like before the GOP always nominated dipshits for prez and VP? |
|
Oh, how I long for the days when the Republican Party actually gave us candidates who weren't batshit crazy. The last palatable Republican ticket was Dole-Kemp in 1996. Those were two people I could have actually accepted... not that I wanted them as president and VP (I voted for Clinton-Gore), but at least they didn't scare the shit out of me like W, Cheney, McCain, and Palin.
Oh, what I wouldn't give to go back to the Republican party of the past...

1. yeah, that's why you have family members of Eisenhower |

supporting Democrats these days. Nixon was also intelligent.
when did the contempt for knowledge and intelligence grow in that party ?
i can kind of understand Reagan's popularity as he at least could speak and he had to get someone like the older Bush who is seen as being smart on the ticket to win.
but with Bush and now with Palin the base of the party is really embracing ignorance.

I've never voted for a Republican in my life. I used to be so mad at Reagan and then Bush-Quayle and then Dole-Kemp in the 90s, thinking they were so terrible. But Gawd, compared to the current low-lifes at the GOP, they were saints. I mean, as much as I disliked Bush I and Bob Dole, they did have their good points, they had a basic level of intelligence, they had a lot of valuable experience when they ran for president, and they weren't temperamental, trigger-happy warmongers who thought they were on a mission from God.

Ike Eisenhower was a pretty darn sane man. It's been downhill from then, straight into the pits of lies, war, torture, death, a pissed on Constitution, and economic pain.
