Can someone fill me in? what am I missing?
When I first heard "Alaska is close to Russia - Foriegn Policy" BS - I actually thought it was an outrageously funny slip up. But now it is being heard frequently in different quarters ... It is safe to assume that this talking point came out of a strategy session and disseminated to the talking heads.

SO - why am I concerned. Forget logic 101, where we can look at the underlying premises and assumptions and conclusions drawn, common sense should tell anyone that this is an incredible claim to make. THE AUDACITY OF LIES. My God, why do you think they can get away with lies, that everyone knows are lies, lies that dont need to be masked or shaded in anyway. It is almost like they flaunting their ability to tell a lie and get away with it - which honestly is more shocking than the lie itself. But obviously they are doing it. Again and again and again and again.

My question is WHY do they think they can get away with it? Are there factors that I am not considering such as, plenty of dimwits who will believe what they are saying?

What is it?

2. This has me baffled also
It's made worse since McCain has said this twice. I wish the media would press them on this point.

3. If you tell a lie over and over and over again some people will begin to believe it
It gives the people supporting her some vague rationalization for that support..

4. I'm with you. However,
it is quite apparent that they CAN get away with... mostly because they have in the past.
They rely on the American people to be asleep at the wheel. Works EVERY time.
There aren't enough of us fighting on the other side as a unit.

7. They get away with the lies because they can
Last week, Randi Rhodes went through Palin's convention speech and debunked it almost point for point as outright lies. But the mainstream media called the speech "brilliant!" When Biden was asked about the speech on Meet the Press, he said it was "brilliant." If no one starts calling them out on their lies, they will just increase and get more blatant.
