I believe I know what happened... |

In a first-class journalist's life, there are not many opportunitites to get the ultimate scoop. Now Gibson is so far from first-class, that his approach might be termed "Steerage class" but I digress. He was under the gun by his own folks in the business and he pulled 'gotcha' on her, so that he could be considered above reproach after that horrendous performance in the Philadelphia debate between Obama and Hillary.
He was protecting his journalistic ass, such as it is.

1. Perhaps....although I interpreted it differently. |

Are you speaking of the Bush Doctrine question?
I don't think it was intended to be a gotcha. I think he was genuinely shocked to see that she had no friggin clue what he was talking about. After the one second of shock, he was both disgusted and frightened by her ignorance, so he allowed her to hang herself.

4. I agree -It was too obvious he was talking to a RW talking point PARROT, not a serious lawmaker. |

If he went along with her BS, it would be too apparent he's been in the tank. Hopefuly he DID have some personal alarm for how incapable she is to be in any position of power.

Her final answer was taken from a completely different question, that she sound bited, you can see the progression of time in the windows behind them and it shifts back and forth.

2. Charlie is an intellectual.. |

I think at first he was treating her as an intellectual equal, then had to resort to treating her like a professor would treat the stupidest kid in his class.

If the interview looked "rigorous" the campaign has a better chance of limiting further interviews.
