There is a lot of negativity here because of the media attention on Palin and the polls.
With the numbers I have seen in turnout for Democrats and the increase in registrations I am still very confident. I have never seen enthusiasm like we had in the primaries. We are going to see it again with a higher intensity closer to the election.

We will have to win it on the ground because the media is owned by the republicans- we can't change that. This country is messed up and I don't believe Democrats are going to allow it to continue.

This frustration we see now will be turned into extra enthusiasm later in the fall.

2. There are a few things that we have to remember.
If the GOP essentially owns the media, we can be guaranteed of a few things:

1. Whatever reporting is done will generally ignore Obama and focus on McCain, and then, never in any substance.
2. The language of that reporting, where Obama cannot be ignored for fear of dispelling whatever semblance of unbiased vapor may still exist for them, will be carefully selected to paint Obama's accomplishments as nothing particularly special and McCain's non-accomplishments as of great import.
3. Polls, regardless of what anyone may actually think, are also owned by the media. Samples will be rigged to favor a greater number of GOP respondents, or, where not possible, will be outright fabricated because who the hell is going to subject the poll to any sort of inquiry.

It's going to be tough for Obama to enter into this bubble of swirl and get his message out. But I don't believe there are too many people still on the fence. The only thing McCain has done through Palin's selection is get the media some fuel for the fluff machine and get the fundies all excited again. In other words, he's gunned for votes we had no shot at. We must keep going after our base to make this unwinnable for McCain.
