Republican nominee Palin will visit Stark County, Ohio Monday night

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will visit Stark County Monday night for an invitation-only fundraising event in Jackson Township, a local Republican party official said.

The reception for the Alaska governor starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Brookside Country Club at 1800 Canton Ave. NW, said Sarah Brown, an event chairwoman for the local McCain/Palin Victory Committee.

She will not be accompanied by Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

"We are thrilled that she's coming to Stark County," Brown said. "We anticipate raising a lot of money for the Palin/McCain campaign."

Tickets start at a minimum of $2,500. Getting a picture with Palin will cost $10,000, while attending a private reception before the main event will cost $25,000 a person. Brown said the reception room has a capacity of 240.

Brown said Stark County Republican Chairman Jeff Matthews and Timken Co. Chairman W.J. "Tim" Timken, Jr. played key roles in arranging Palin's visit against competition for her presence by other Republicans throughout the state.

"Everybody in Ohio wants her to come," said Brown. "People are clamoring to hear from this ticket."

Brown said she'll be accompanied to the event by her husband Stark County Common Pleas Judge Charles Brown, the former Stark County Republican Party chairman. Both will have an opportunity to speak with Palin.

"The first thing I will say to (her) is thank you .... thank you for showing America what women are able to do," said Sarah Brown.

The Republican event chairwoman said she's spoken with a Navarre-area woman, a nursing home administrator who went to the Democratic convention in Denver, who's decided to switch her vote from Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to McCain because McCain chose Palin to be his running mate. The Democrat now plans to volunteer for the McCain campaign. :wow: :wtf:

"I am very excited," said Brown. "I really identify with this woman very strongly."

Brown said not only do she and Palin share the same first name, their early political careers are similar. Palin was involved in the PTA, while Brown was an Alliance City Schools board member. Brown also was an Alliance councilwoman, while Palin served on council in her hometown.

"That's why the exhilaration of women, Republican and Democrat, is so high in this country ... because there's a Sarah Palin in every town in America who's followed this same path."

1. I hope Hillary is reacting to this as I am.
Hillary lays down a lifetime climbing, and along comes Ms. Speaking in Tongue 1984, stepping on Hillary's head to get next to the presidency. That pisses me off already.

3. Women are capable of so much more...
...than being used as prize-strokers by rich old white men.
