Yes, It's the economy stupid--and don't forget health care!!
That was the motto of the Clinton campaign in 1992 and it's true today. Obama can't allow his campaign to get distracted. He has to go on the offensive regarding the economy:

*highest unemployment in five years
*the housing crisis
*high gasoline prices (point out what gas prices were before Bush became president compared to today)
*higher prices on almost everything else
*poverty rate rising

Then he has to hammer away on an issue that women especially care about--health care and the lack of it or how many people are under insured.

The thing is we have the issues on our side and we just have to ignore the GOP which wants this to be about personalities (hell, we have the better personalities, too), and keep pushing on the stump, on TV, with our surrogates, etc the economy and health care. Don't be distracted.

I was interested in the spike up for McCain in the Rasmussen tracking poll, apparently Obama had a good night (Monday) fall off, while McCain had a good night last night. But it apparently proves that distractions do work and maybe that whole manufactured controversy over lipstick on a pig actually worked to InSane's advantage. This is why we can't get off message and allow ourselves to be dragged into what they want to discuss. We need to keep focused on the economy and health care.
