Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 11:56 AM by Beaverhausen
Sorry if this was already discussed but to me THIS should lose him the election right now.

Did anyone hear it?

edit- here is what he said:

"Listen, mayors have the toughest job, I think, in America. It's easy for me to go to Washington and, frankly, be somewhat divorced from the day-to-day challenges people have."

1. That quote needs to be in an ad.
Hang him with his own words and actions. No muss, no fuss, no lies, no distortions - just use McCain himself in Obama's ads.

8. thanks
I'd spin it like this:

Recently John McCain confessed that being a Washington insider keeps him "divorced from the day-to-day challenges people have."

I didn't get the direct quote either but I know he said he "was divorced" from reality or from regular issues

I'd sure like a clip

6. They pounced on it in their morning memo.
Salon's War Room blog has posted the entire memo.

7. Yeah, and Obama admitted he was an elitist
You are dumb if you think you can win a campaign by seizing on a single remark.

17. Sure. Here's an example...
from the event yesterday; Obama said 'we yak in the senate. (Mayors et al) get things done , like taking care of garbage collection (etc)'. Sorry - I don't want to go off looking for the exact quote. My point is that RWers could seize on a statement like 'we yak in the senate' as 'proof' of Obama's elitism. It'd be dumb, of course, like any comment taken out of context. But it would be equally dumb for us to try and build McCain's concession about sometimes being out of touch into a central campaign issue.

Oh, yeah. You can definitely win or lose by seizing on a single remark.

18. Ah, but that was a policy statement, not personal confession.
And recall that it was only damning because it could be tied to subsequent actions in office that proved it to be a hollow promise.

20. Doesn't really matter.
It's already a concern that he's out of touch, and to have him say that himself is something we can and should pound him with over and over and over.

14. That is exactly why Obama's new ad is so brilliant.
It hits McOld-n-out-of-touch square between the eyes.

He made the mistake of admitting he knows nothing about computers when they are the lifeblood of our economy. This man should not be allowed in the White House.. PERIOD.

Maybe President Obama will pay for some computer classes for the 'old guy as a concilation prize.

19. McCame: “Look, Gov. Palin was responding to the criticism of her inexperience..."
Said that little tidbit before his "divorced from reality" bit.
