Rasmussen Poll of Missouri: McCain 51% (+1) Obama 46% (+2)

previous poll of Missouri in August: 50-44 McCain.

Five-point margin is still competitive. I don't think Obama will win Missouri, but let McCain have to spend time and $ here.

1. That's not too bad
The problem with Missouri is that there are voters outside of Kansas City, Columbia, St. Louis County and St. Louis City.

5. Missouri is about +3 Republican
Missouri is closely split, but conservative rural voters narrowly outnumber the more liberal metro voters.

Democrats can win statewide races, but it requires them to be a tad more conservative than national Democrats, so that they can peel off at least a few of those more conservative voters.

I live in St. Louis. I have no doubt that the St. Louis area, including St. Louis County, will go to Obama big. My guess is, though, that this state won't go Democratic unless Obama wins nationally by about 3 points.

3. Ha! You haven't seen the voter registration numbers coming out of KC, STLC nor the massive
ground operation here. He will need a 5% lead to eek one out.

7. There will be more Obama votes in KC and StL than there were Kerry
votes in '04. That alone could win it for Obama.

11. IA, NM, CO - that's what we need to win
I'm sad that people are so fucking stupid - but I guess that's the reality we live in. Thank god we don't need Missouri to win.

12. Since 1956
I am worried about Missouri because of history. Since 1956, the presidential elections who won that state that person would win the presidential election every time. Obama will need the state.
