Foppish never did a days work in his life Orrin Hatch wanders off the reservation-
The Utah Republican says the “lipstick” allegation against Obama is “ridiculous.”
“I’m sure he didn’t mean it that way, the way it’s being interpreted.”
Adds that Obama “is a nice person. He’s smart; he’s intelligent. He writes well. He’s very charismatic.”
Says Palin’s treatment from her critics has also been “ridiculous.”

1. Obama referred to Hatch as a "fine Senator" last night
I winced, but civility does have its rewards.

8. i have no problem with that, Hatch is civil, he's dickish but he's not the rabid mouth
breather that so many of them are.

I don't like Cheney either, but at least I respect his brainpower.

9. Progressives could be a bit kinder to certain conservatives....
For example, I have a great deal of respect for Arlen Specter (who is not at all excited by McCain).

People may have different world views from us, but that doesn't make them evil and when any of us (not you) use the broad brush against them, it really makes us look small.

I'm glad with what Hatch has said, it speaks volumes that someone on the other team can rise above the bullshit.

I just felt like saying that to someone who I didn't think would snap back. :hi:

16. (Ducking)Arlen Specter is stem cell research fundings best buddy in DC, unquestionably.
I've been advocating for the issue for over a decade and he's our most consistent congressional advocate.

On most other things, meh. But some issues transcend politics.

17. Sometimes I get so discouraged here....
...the level of criticism and hyperbole, outrage against the person instead of the policy, including the name calling, ie: "ORAL HATCH"??!!

And these "Where's Hillary?, where's Biden?, where's my money being spent?" posts?

Lord knows I've lost it on this board, but lately it's been a bit wacky, I'd like to think we could be more adult, more inclusive, and more focused on winning.

Ah well, rant over. Have a great Friday, blondeatlast! :hi:

10. Twisting names is soooo Michael Savage. We're better than that.
Or we should be, or could be.

DU is not freeperville, let's rise above childish name-twisting.

19. Except that for someone who runs their mouth as much as Hatch does, particularly regarding
"upperdown" votes, I think it is an apt and clever use of political literary license and thus not Michael Savage like at all, given that he is neither apt nor clever.

22. Hatch is not a big McCain fan, particularly since McCain sided with the "Gang of 14" who effectively
killed the "nuclear option" which Hatch wanted to exercise in order to get upperdown votes. Hatch believes in the eternal sanctity of the upperdown vote, at least as long as there is a Republican in the White House, when Bill Clinton was there, not so much.

24. Yes you struck a nerve.
No offense but you are being a jerk. Out of everything going on in the world you decide to call me out for calling Orrin "Oral." That is just being a plain jerk. Screw off and mind your own business.

11. Um-hm. It's called 'covering the bases'.
Hatch sees the direction this is taking, and doesn't want to get in front of the steamroller.

Crafty fucker that he is.

3. This whole "lipstick" flap is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen
And despite recent polling, I think it shows that McCain knows he's in deep shit and going desperate.

Even if he does suck at everything else he does.

Orrin Hatch is one of the sneakiest dirtiest RepubliCONS there is he and Mitch McConnell are at the top of my list. I don't trust him if you see him Newt Grinchwich,Sennsenbrenner anyone other repugs with their heads together or agreeing on anything they are up to something..

23. Who knows what Orrin is up to?
However, he is one of Teddy's best friends in the Senate. When Teddy was having a really rough time

years ago, Hatch stuck with him and urged him to get his act together. He wasn't playing then.

Somewhere in there is a tiny little grain of humanity for lack of a better word.
