ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Alaska lawmakers have voted to subpoena 13 witnesses, including Gov. Sarah Palin's husband, Todd. It's part of the investigation into whether the Republican vice presidential candidate abused her power in trying to get her former brother-in-law fired.

Said retired prosecutor Stephen Branchflower of Todd Palin: "He's such a central figure. ... I think one should be issued for him."

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 3-2 for the subpoenas.

Branchflower said he wants to interview Palin herself, but did not ask for a subpoena for her.

16. I heard that - the Alaska attorney general will quash the subpoenas
It was reported that if the two sides could not come to a workable agreement, he would step in and quash them. This is getting ugly.

5. In the long run a few things can result from this investigation...
I believe that this investigation could either help or hurt Palin. If she is found Guilty of using her influence to exact a vendetta on her brother in law then she will be seen as a vindictive, selfish woman in the media. This will affect her vote with woman who are the group she has been stealing from Obama as of late. If she is found to be not guilty I think the effect will be opposite. The media will paint her as a target of unfair criticism and you can bet that the gender card will be in play once again. Either way the attention is not so good for McCain/Palin because their focus is being split. The resources it will take to defend her reputation can NOT be spent on more attacks on Obama. So in all this investigation is good for us but the result could be good or bad for us...It remains to be seen though.

14. this is a bipartisan affair. they already tried to get hollis french
removed from heading it but failed. its a sign of her soft support among her own party that no one is going to extend themselves too much. i am sure they also feel the eyes of the world upon them as well. :)

11. Palin's administration is going to fight the subpoenas - now, that's reform Cheney likes.
CNN reported that they were thinking of fighting these subpoenas.

15. It's hard to see that junk up so early in the year. I wish they would wait until after Thanksgiving
About a month of that excess level of commercialization and over-the-top consumerism is all I can take anymore.

After dodging store Santas and tiny green elves for 3 or 4 months, during the final week before Christmas, whenever one of them approaches me and says "ho, ho, ho" I am usually so burned out I reply back "yeah, whatever!" and walk away from them as quick as I can just to get the hell out of the store.
