Rovian trick: Energize the Repuke base, demoralize ours!
Between utterly depressing, panicked blogs on Huffington and Daily Kos, coupled with the amazingly negative tripe on DU, let me just say that we Democrats are handing over victory to the Rovian Repukes and their whores in the M$M.

I have trouble understanding why we simply don't get it: we are losing our minds over some unqualified chick who McSame has chosen as his running mate. She's a pawn, only meant to stir up controversy, unify the fundie/Repuke base, and attempt to attract disaffected white women to their camp. While, at the same time, make us feel as though we are defeated; make us attack our own nominee, question his judgment...all this while he has run an incredibly disciplined and effective campaign.

Obama is still out-registering, out-performing and out-selling (at the venues) the Repukes. "But, he's doing this, and he isn't doing that."

ENOUGH!!!

Stop allowing Rove to give up rope to hang ourselves! We must stop this!!

Get off our asses register MORE voters, canvass, donate, write letters to the Democratic leadership, and work harder than ever before. But we truly must stop this madness. The Repukes look at us, see us defeated, and attack our candidates even more! It becomes what sociologists refer to as a "self-fulfilling prophecy."

So, stop it!! And get back to work!

1. exactly -- well said
Even the idiocy of McCain picking out a transition team is nothing but a psychological ploy.

We must ignore it and go on. We will win. All indications are in our favor.

2. I'll give the rant 10 out of 10 possible points. I hope a LOT of people read it, and
act accordingly.

We Democrats HAVE to stop being such jumpy, sensitive weenies, and get on with the job.

It's our election to lose, if we don't wake up.

3. Agreed and Recommended
Palin is a joke and should be treated as one. Focus on the failures, they have still not taken ownership for any failure, not one, they can say they are new and improved, fine - what was your failure and how will you correct it?

4. But that's not what our Dem consultants say
They say that the Repukes move to the center to capture "swing voters" and that's why Dem candidates can't afford to energize the Dem base.

8. Exactly. Guess what every faction of the RR is gathered on
C_Span and they have been doing the Halleujah Chorus with praise
to Palen in between.

Ignore Palen. Focus on McCain. Our Candidares need to get passionate
in gling after the Middle Class Working Class votes. We have
their interest at heart.

McCain Campaign is goading us into going after Palen, then using it
to try to get more women. It may be working. Palen is not worth
our interests.

10. We must be unified. If we cannot get unified, we're done! PERIOD!
We came out of the DNC convention unified and happy. This Palin chick is the anti-christ. Why? The devil divides and destroys. She is extremely polarizing. These people want this election to be about the Culture Wars because, as always, they do not have the issues on their side. She represents that; all that is totally wrong with America! So, while we sit here being depressed and disunified, the Repukes are living it up.

We must stop. We have no choice but to get unified and reenergized NOW!!

Are The Netroots Being Played By Rove?
12 Sep 2008 05:37 pm

(submitted to Andrew Sullivan by a reader)

I just wanted to say thank you so much for being the only blogger (aside from Al Giordano) who gets it. While the rest of the blogosphere (especially the liberal bloggers) lose their heads you are an island of common sense. Patience and Steel. Yes, yes. yes.

It also occurs to me that in a way McCain and Rove have actually simply taken over the liberal blogosphere in some way. They are being played.

Just a few examples---yesterday Obama gave a fantastic interview at the Service Forum. Did the liberal blogs even cover this? No.

He gave a great speech on the trail. Are his town halls even posted or excerpted? No.

The liberal bloggers have become McCain central. They make people click on his ads, make the world spin around him instead of focusing on our candidate and what he is trying to do. There is ZERO coverage of what Obama is actually doing every day talking tough on the issues. There is ZERO coverage of Biden (who is on the trail but the blogs don't seem to care or cover him unless he is doing what they think he should be doing.

<SNIP>

They are all being played.

And Obama, god bless him, he gets it. As does his team. while everyone whines he keeps at it every day with much much class and like a laser focused on the issues. The problem is not Obama, is that no one wants to follow his lead. Instead they are following McCain-Rove and they don't even know it.

*************************************************************

Speaking of getting into Obama's head, always remember this. This is what all this is about period. It's all they got:

"The most readily identified, most easily stereotyped, and most quickly dismissed figure is an angry black man."

That's what that tool Rove and his acolytes are trying to do. It's the only card they have left. Obama must not let them get their way. If he doesn't, he doesn't just win. We have a chance now to defeat the forces of evil that Obama has smoked out of their cubicles.

Sullivan has been on a tear today!

18. YES!! YES!! This is exactly what they are trying to do...
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 05:25 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
If one hair raises at the back of Obama's neck, they'll be calling him the angry black male. They Repukes are just waiting for the opportunity to tear into this guy; to make him lose his cool.

Why is it that the Repukes get this and understand this, and we Democrats who are supposedly more "racially enlightened" do not? What is it about Democrats that make us so naive and willfully believe anything we are fed. Funnily enough, we chastize the zombie followers on the Right for blindly following their authoritarian leaders and yet we are allowing the Rovians to dictate how WE feel about OUR candidate? The exact same thing happened to Gore and Kerry.

The media makes 24/7 coverage bashing and smearing Obama. He fights back, giving fiery speeches that we only see on C-SPAN. We get angry because we don't SEE him fighting back. Why? Because the M$M WILL NOT COVER THESE TOWN HALLS THAT HE IS HOLDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama has held summits on the economy, on energy, on foreign policy. How many people know this? People still complain that he lacks substance; however, they refuse even to visit his site, www.barackobama.com/issues, where he specifically lays out a comprehensive policy platform that is more than 70 pages long. Again, in every speech, he discusses and clearly lays out his tax plan. Does the M$M show this? No! They only show snippets of lofty language, not the part where there is much more substance on policy!!

And when he DOES give specific policy responses, he is accused of being too cerebral, too nuanced, and dare I say it, "elitist," talking "down" to the American people.

This guy simply cannot win for losing! He cannot!!!

For the love of God, please wake up, Democrats!!

14. Absolutely! And the "PUMA" scam/lie is at the top of Roves trick list
Getting a bunch of republicans who switched party to vote for Hillary during Rush Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" to announce they're going to vote John McCain isn't the same thing as a bunch of REAL democrats signing off to vote McCain. It's a big scam. People have been swindled by Rove and Limbaugh. There are no real PUMAs. Do not panic. Do not waiver in confidence. Do not abandon posts. In the words of a great man... stand up and fight! Fight! Fight!

17. Let me tell you why I know this is true. The M$M was jerking off again
during the DNC convention. Every story was about whether or not the Democrats were going to be unified. What was Hillary up to? Was Bill even going to show up? And look what happened...

Fast forward a week later and Ron Paul was pulling in 12,000 screaming fans a few miles from the Repuke convention amid tens of thousands of protestors. Think the M$M covered that division within the party? There was nary a word!

WAKE UP, DEMOCRATS!!

Sullivan is right on the money! He is the smartest mo-fo out there right now. I'm tired of hearing Arianna's whining, too! I'm sticking with Sullivan for now.

The whole PUMA thing is a scam. They are tiny in number but they sure do make a lot of NOISE. The media eats up PUMA droppings like candy.

15. Democrats don't get demoralized becaues of Palin.
They get demoralized because we fell behind at a critical juncture in the campaign. When one side takes the lead, it's going to lead to a lot of questioning of the side that blew the lead.

So, yes, it's quite reasonable to ask the Obama campaign "what is your new plan, since your old plan didn't work?"

What say you?

He "blew" his lead? He didn't BLOW anything; McSame gained the lead because the Republicans are energized because of their new chick.

21. McCain is winning independent voters now.
That's why he's ahead.

Palin pulled in independents AND energized their base.

And no, I have not been running against Obama. I have been frustrated with his campaign's cavalier approach to the media cycle.
