"Mayors have the toughest jobs." |
|
"We yikety yak in the Senate. They actually have to fill potholes and trim trees and make sure the garbage is taken away." - Obama at the service forum, 9/11/08.
I watched him say this live, and it didn't hit me as much as reading it today in print form. Nice fucking burn on her readiness to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

then I thought of the inevitable cries of the McCain camp of Obama "belittling" Ms. Palin's "experience."

8. I think I've noticed that the Obama campaign likes to slowly get an issue into play, |
|
building it up, making a case a little bit at a time and then when the timing is good, pull it all back out and let everyone take a gander.
The talk of MsMooseMuffins "responsibilities" dovetails, in the end, to the story about the hockey rink mismanagement, the dairy mismanagement, the hiring of a lobbyist for the city, looking into banning books.
I think we'll hear more about Ms. Palins responsibilities.

he should do it as often as possible
too much rides on this election for Obama to allow the Republicans to steal it with lies again as they did in 2004
and in 2000 they just plain stole it

|
What she did all day? Try to get her brother-in-law fired; try to get books banned; act obnoxious at her son's hockey games even though he wasn't a very good player; not teach her kids about sexual responsibility and protection; eat moose-burgers in award-winning fashion; hire lobbyists to acquire massive pork-marks for her tiny, town; and much, much more. Her resume shows she's overqualified to be Veep.

I must say that I am shocked, SHOCKED by the suggestion that Palin was the jerkwad parent at little-league games. It seems to completely out of character for her.;):P

I didn't even pick up on it, while watching it live. I mean, I kinda cocked my head at what he said, and thought, "man, he's really playing the good-guy role here."
I was reading the paper today, and that exact same quote, and I burst out laughing. It was genius.

Yeha, ok, maybe some do. My city's Mayor runs a seedy bar and sells cars on the side, was embroiled in a scandal with the New York State Lottery and hires a City Manager for 150,000 a year to do his actual job. I wouldn't buy a car from him.

If anything was a dig it was this. And the way Obama said it was so masterful, his tone was flat and he gave a little pause but still gave the look like he was sincere.
