John McCain was on The View today and it was an awful roasting. He was pinned up and down the couch.

Barbara Walters in particular, who tends to stand down on these occasions really went after the old man. She really tried to pin him on picking such a right wing nut for the VP. She specifically confronts him about what qualifies her as a reformer. Notably they tell him that she did give out earmarks and McCain LIES and says she never did so as a governor. Joy outright calls his ads about "lipstick" and comprehensive sex education for kindergartners "LIES"

(Video: John McCain on The View 9-12-2008 part 1 of 3)

The funniest things in this next section was Whoopi asking McCain if she had to worry about becoming a slave again after McCain said he wanted judges who interpreted the constitution as the founders "intended". This clip also contains the section where McCain calls Roe vs Wade a "very bad decision" which ilicits audible groans from the audience.

2. no surprise there, the media "proper" hasn't done their job for over 8 years

It wasn't a roasting what I saw, it was calling him out on his lies and misrepresentations

3. She's going to reform the Democrat party
She also didn't fire the chef, she gave her other duties and a new name.
She didn't sell the plane on e-bay, she sold it at a loss to a supporter.
She asked for millions of dollars of earmarks, nearly half a trillion dollars in 18 months.

4. I enjoyed Joy and Whoopi
Even Barbara went after McCain more than I expected. They need to replace Elizabeth and Sherry (who barely talked) to make it a somewhat decent show.

9. I know and I love her for it
I'm glad she called McCain on the "pig w/lipstick" and "teaching 5 year olds about sex" ads. I can't believe he's sticking by the "pig w/lipstick" accusation...even Elizabeth didn't by that crap.

6. Good for them. I am hoping that over the next few weeks we
will start to see a shift in media coverage and that after the debates we will have a lead where we need it most in the EV count.

8. Did Whoopie really say that?
What a way to cut through the "Constructionist" bullshit. That isn't funny, it is scary.

12. Whoopie asked him if he believed in separation of church and state..
and he said he did, then went on a long diatribe about how he would govern by faith. He also said he had "fundamental" beliefs. I'm not sure what happened to the maverick but I think candidate McCain may have eaten him.
