2. You got that right Joe! |
|
The Clintons best get it straight that Hillary is not going to get that second chance in 2012 unless both of them make A SINCERE ATTEMPT to support Obama. I fear that neither of them have the type of character traits to pull it off - but I also genuinely hope that I'm wrong. :(

24. What do you consider a sincere attempt? They have both endorsed Obama and |
|
gave a couple of really good speeches at the convention. Hillary has made several appearances on Obama's behalf since the end of the primaries. Obama met with Bill yesterday and he will be campaigning for Obama also. What more do they need to do to be sincere?

"Here's the deal. The Obama campaign is in the driver's seat on this kind of stuff. I'm told reliably by people in both the Obama and Clinton camps that there were discussions this weekend -- in advance of Hillary's appearance on Monday -- on how to proceed. Both Obama and Hillary advisers were in agreement that having Hillary personally attack Palin would result in a distraction and media circus that would create more problems than it would solve and would take the focus off McCain and the issues." http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/hillary_weighs_in_on_lipstickg.php

Sarah Palin is a wedge issue, like flag burning and gay marriage, though much less relevant. If we and the M$M continue to focus on her and her lack of qualifications, everything else is off the table, stupid, but that's what's going on... :-(

16. I went to her rally in Tampa on Monday. Someone said, "What about Palin!?" |
|
AND she said, "What about her? It doesn't matter who the Republicans use to bring the message, its the same message. Its the same failed policies. Its NOT what America needs"... This after speaking for about 20 minutes about how crucial and critical it is to elect a Democrat into the White House. She said, "I've been around for a long time in politics, these last 8yrs have been some of the worst blunders, policies, and indadequacies she's ever seen in her entire lifetime".
She's NOT going to be dragged into a media made Cat Fight. She's not even in the same league as Sarah. So, why even stoop that low.

Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 05:58 PM by Kerry2008
If and when they want her to go after Palin, they'll have her go after Palin.
Wouldn't it make more sense for her to go after McCain though? She presented herself as the person ready to lead on day one, and she was prepared to be Commander-In-Chief, wouldn't it make sense for her to make the case that Obama is ready and McCain is too dangerous?
Biden will take care of Palin at the VP debate, and she's already making an ass of herself in the ABC interviews.

Harold Wolfson said a week ago to the Politico and the NYT that Hillary would not criticize Palin in any way to avoid the appearance of a "cat fight."
Hmmm, I guess no one told that to Govs. Sebelius and Napolitano.

However, I think it would be a mistake to provide the media with a "catfight" to cover that would further distract voters from focusing on the issues. I think they are playing this very smart.

|
Joe Biden should be prepared to go after Palin in the debates about policy that is his job. Obama's job is to attack McCain and lump him and his running mate in the same boat as not being good for the interests of the American people and being part of the same failed policies of Bush. Hillary is doing the right thing.

She's out campaigning for Obama in important states like Ohio and Florida. I'm sure she will continue to fight for Obama in the weeks to come. Also, Palin isn't the nominee so the focus should be on McCain anyway. I just don't know what some people want from her.

It's kind of similar to what Edwards did in 2004 when he refused to attack Bush/Cheney because of his "sunny, positive" brand.
There's a lot of people in Hillaryland keeping their powder dry for 2012 - why else would the vast bulk of her Hillraisers refuse to raise money for Obama if not to sabotage his chances by forcing him to waste precious time at fundraisers when he should be rallying voters before Election Day?
