Latest Newsweek Poll: Tied at 46%
With 53 days until Election Day, John McCain has pulled even with Barack Obama in the latest NEWSWEEK Poll. Buoyed by the Republican convention and overwhelming partisan enthusiasm for his choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate, McCain is now tied with Obama among registered voters nationwide, 46 percent to 46 percent.

Two weeks of all-Sarah Palin-all-the-time media coverage, and the McCain bounce in national and battleground state polls, has spurred Democratic anxieties that despite President Bush's dismal approval ratings, the party might be squandering the chance to take advantage and reclaim the White House. But NEWSWEEK's Poll suggests the race is very much still in play. McCain's current level of support, after all, is up just 5 points from July, before either party's nominating convention, when Obama led McCain 44 to 41 percent.

1. The next few sets of tracking polls should be interesting. We'll see if America
was paying attention to MsMooseMuffin's embarrassing performance and Obama's superior one.

2. Encouraging
The polls seem to be converging...Some show a tie...Some show a small McWalkingCane lead...And one shows an Obama lead...

4. This Is Hard To Believe
"Asked if Palin shares their view on abortion, 43 percent of white women said yes, 41 percent said no and 16 percent did not know."

43% of women believe a twelve year girl shold should carry to term a rapist's baby and even when the rapist was her dad...

I shudder...

9. Depends How You Ask The Question
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 07:20 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
But I doubt anywhere near 43% of women would force their twelve year old daughter to carry to term a rapist's baby even if the rapist was her dad which is what Sarah Palin advocates...

I am anti abortion but I don't think I have the right to make that decision for others! If a woman asked my opinion I would ask her to have the child and put it up for adoption...However, there is no way I am going to ask her to have her rapist's baby...That's insane!

14. No need to shudder, there is good news here....
Obviously, a lot of folks do not know what Palin's views ARE. When this comes out, her numbers will go down....

She is riding a honeymoon wave now, but there is plenty of time to catch up with her. And the good part is she really IS a wing nut and she really ISN'T that smart.

11. Pulled even?
Isn't it more than likely that the previous Newsweek poll showed McCain ahead since the convention bump and Palin-excitement would have put them at least a few points ahead? Losing ground to tie with your opponent is not pulling even, which is a positive implication. Obama probably pulled even with McCain.

13. EXACTLY!
And those SOBs say McCrazy made a "surge" when he merely pulled even.
