6. Why didn't Charlie mention that she had called Hillary a whiner? That was what he should have asked

5. he looked squinty and kind of disgusted, maybe he was with himself.
He said that last night she did better but tonight on economics she was just bad. "She left democrats plenty of openings" and now tightly pulled Bay Buchanan is spinning like a top.

24. She seemed a bit more relaxed tonight...
but she failed even more miserably on the merits of the questions posed. I think my yellow lab knows more about the economy than she does - it was shameful. She had other big gaffes, but that was the one that stuck out to me as well. However, she also managed to blow her own cover on her new 'charming' personality in a couple of ways. First, she lunged towards the olive branch by saying several times, 'now I understand other viewpoints,' including on abortion - please - and her snide comment about the Hillary regret.

Basically, no doubt remains that she's a total fool and an obvious cynical ploy. I'm glad to see the general conversation shifting towards, 'let's ignore this and get back to the old man and his crap issues.' We need to do that, as it's exactly what they do not want us to do. She's useless at this point, and if/when she acts up again, sic Joey the Shark from Delaware on her to annihilate her. It's time to let the D brawler out of his cage and let Obama continue to help the McCain campaign implode on itself.

8. He said he defended her last night. I don't think he said she did better.
I just think he cut her some slack and he wasn't willing to do that anymore.

14. Haven't seen it yet - West Coaster
But last night Gergen was, in my opinion, overly kind to her and defended the Bush Doctrine response. I was a bit taken aback because he is usually a straight shooter. She reminded me of an interviewee not ready anywhere near qualified for the job. I actually like when I get these type of people for job interviews. You are done in 10 minutes and can move on. That could be the frustration some people saw in Charlie. He couldn't say 'thank you for your time' and move on.

gave him second thoughts and he was good enough to admit that.

19. good to hear
There are too few decent commentators left, hated to see him not pick up the obvious shortcomings. My partner and I would laugh after people like her leave and then castigate whoever recommnded the person. The B.S. answers, the inability to listen, the agressive stance when follow up questions are asked. The problem with people like Palin is they aren't trainable becuase they can't admit they are wrong and the only thing you can have faith in is that they will screw up a job and cost you a shitload of money.

21. Gergen is a good sort.
The Friday night "Gergen and Shields" segment on the McNeil/Lehrer NewsHour used to be my favorite viewing of the week. Of course Mark Shields always was my favorite. I used to say that if I ever came up missing, not to worry... I'd just have run away to become a Mark Shields groupie;)

10. the good thing is
even if she does get better in the next 50+ days, everybody will know it's just because she's being coached.

She actually doesn't know anything on most of these subjects.

23. It gives me hope...
As reporters start interviewing Palin, they've been pointing out her mistakes, and showing she's under qualified. They've also been commenting on how McCain has been stodgy with his interviews, refusing to answer questions, etc. We may finally see an end to the republicans getting by with shutting out the media: I think reporters have had enough of Bush's style of interviewing, not getting the access they want, not being able to ask the questions they want, and fearing reprisal if they do... They've seen Obama's transparency, and willingness to talk about anything, and I think they like it. Hopefully, they'll keep pointing out how the republicans differ in that category.

...Now if we could only get them to say that the republicans doing all the spin-doctoring are full of shit...
