SURPRISE!!! (not) Report: GOP ad misleads on immigration

The McCain campaign opened a bid Friday to woo U.S. Hispanic voters by accusing Barack Obama of sabotaging immigration reform, McClatchy Newspapers said.

A Spanish-language TV ad accuses the Democratic presidential nominee and his allies in the Senate of blocking compromises that would have allowed an immigration reform bill to pass.

"The press reports that their efforts were 'poison pills' that made immigration reform fail," the ad charges. "The result: No guest worker program. No path to citizenship. No secure borders. No reform. Is that being on our side? Obama and his congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead."

However, McClatchy reports there were two critical votes to end debate on the bill -- and Sen. John McCain voted the same way as Obama both times on ending a filibuster that was led primarily Republican senators. The bill never came to a vote, the report said.

I'm sure they will love hearing about McCain fighting for immigration reform. So much so that they may have to vote for Barr.
