Dee Dee Myers just made me sick and so have all the other Democratic analysts and pundits who for the last few days have been second guessing everything about the Obama campaign from his ads, is he tough enough, should he have chosen Hilary etc.
Even my husband who is not as obsessed as I am commented the other day that all the Republican strategists stick to their scripted talking points. Their points are total bullshit but they are rigid in parroting them and they NEVER EVER say anything bad about their team of McCain/Palin.
It's frustrating and it's why the Democrats lose. They give all their power away to the media and to the Republicans.

1. Why do you think the media has them back again and again?
They play along and sabotage the Democratic candidate.

The media will not have someone back who tells the truth.

That's not playing fair.

(WELL into the election season), parroting the RW talking point of the media being in love with Obama and hating poor Johnny boy? Fuck her. You would think, being a professional woman, that she would be a bit more insulted by Palin.

3. The corporate media picks and chooses its "democrat"

spokespeople with great care.
Hasn't the same dozen or so bunch of talking asshats been around for the last 3 or 4 elections? A very closed club.

4. If Obama Had Picked Hillary...
To be honest, I never wanted Hillary to be our nominee and didn't think she'd be the best pick for a running mate. It's not that I dislike her, it's just that I think she has too much baggage. I was no big Biden fan either - again, no dislike, but he just didn't inspire me.

It's amazing now to see/hear people second guessing Obama's pick of Biden. The theory goes that if Obama had picked Hillary, McCain wouldn't have picked Palin and all those white women voters would be loyal to Obama, not McCain.

I think that's nonsense.

First of all, if it were true, does no one comment on McCain's lack of leadership - he was unable to pick a running mate without seeing who Obama tapped? Oh sure, it was a clever political move, and since he's part of the incumbent party, McSame had the advantage, but really, it doesn't speak to strong, independent decision making skills about who is best to run this country rather than win a campaign.

If Obama had made Hillary Clinton his running mate, there would be a host of other issues, courtesy of the media and Republican smear machine. They would bring up every scandal from the 1990s and her recent campaign and use them to distract from the issues. The media would be talking about what a loose cannon Bill was, and how he and Obama were "fighting" for control. We'd see more of the media/right wing sexism and when the Obama/Clinton campaign called them on it, they'd be called "whiners." The Republicans would still be pushing their PUMAs saying second spot isn't good enough for them, it's condescending. The media would be saying Obama didn't really want Hillary but felt obligated to pick her...blah, blah, blah.

Then, if McSame had picked Palin, it would have been Palin vs. Clinton and Palin would be portrayed as the princess while Hillary would be the evil witch - or some crap like that. Or maybe Rove would have helped McSame find another "outsider" to shake up the game, while Obama/Clinton got painted as the Washington insiders.

Let's not go second guessing Obama's pick of running mate. He made a wise choice. I'm not going to speculate on whether it was the wisest, but any pick would have had its potential pitfalls.

5. We do not have a real party. Each person is always looking
out for him or herself.

When Gopers come on TV. They speak "with authority"--sound like they
are expert on whatever it is they are discussing and they do protect their
own. I have to chuckle on how some of those more serious Republicans
come on and act with sincerity that Palen is the best thing since sliced
bread and it was Charlie Gibson technique not anything wwrong with
Palin.

IMO, this is the biggest weakness of the Democrats.

14. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They are already planning on 2012.
Do they really think people are so stupid that they don't see what is going on?

Hillary Clinton can kiss any future Presidential aspirations goodbye if she thinks she can piss off Obama's base and expect their support in the future.

7. Me too
Not exactly what the OP was talking about, but what especially galls me is when Obama himself or one of his surrogates begins speaking by invoking McCain's great service/sacrifice to our country, blah, blah, blah. STOP F***ING PRAISING HIM ALREADY!!!

10. We do not follow the party talking point; we are Democrats
so what's new about that? We are not sheep being herded being told how to think.

I'd rather have a free thinking Democrat on a panel than someone who just parrots what the party line is and ends up looking stupid when the discussion branches a bit.
