Where DOES Alaska get it's $
Alaska has the lowest individual tax burden in the United States, and is one of only five states with no state sales tax and one of seven states that do not levy an individual income tax.

Alaska depends primarily on petroleum revenues and federal subsidies.

This is a fact.

No wonder it is all about the drilling.

6. Got a link?
I doubt a redneck like her is associated with old money...so I'd like to see that.

11. Honestly, I think you're full of shit.
I even higlighted with Google, for the words, "heath bar" and other words associated with it. Nonetheless, I don't care. If you had the info, you would have just copied and pasted it. So you don't have a fucking clue, you just talked out your ass.

The family of the Heath Bar was from Illinois. Not Idafuckingho.

21. Well, you'd better call Randi Rhodes and tell her that you think she's full of shit, too.

Somehow, I think she will be less patient with you than I am.

And tell TexasObserver that you think he's full of shit, too:

And thank you so much for being polite and considerate and respectful. It's the sort of thing that helps keep the DU community together.

22. So, you have no link to a credible source.
Thanks for playing. Oh, and perhaps if you hadn't been so condescending to me, you would have been treated nicer. I specifically asked you to verify what you were saying was a fact. You sent me to Wiki, I told you there was nothing there. You sarcastically came back to me as said; "do I have to do everything for you".

Point is, if you're going to throw something out there, you need to have facts to back it up. The suggestion that Randi was talking about it is not proof, and nor is a post from another DUer, who might have just been joking.

I'll assume it's just another irrelevant rumor.

... for not fact-checking this one, ground-shaking piece of super-important information before I repeated it.

Please be sure to call Randi on Monday and tell her that in your opinion, she is full of shit.

PS: I am looking, but this week, the two most common words in the English language are "Palin" and "Chocolate."

25% of all computers and software (we invented the things), movies, television, crops....

Ms Palin, if we're going to drill off the continental shelf, how much can every Californian expect to see?

14. UNJUST! Alaska gets almost $2 back for every $1 it pays in federal tax

It obviously helped to have Alaska's now-indicted senator as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. And despite McCain's claims that Palin has distinguished herself by breaking with Alaska's discredited Republican establishment in February, the governor sent Stevens a request for $200 million to support various state projects. With representatives like that, it's no wonder that Alaska, despite its oil boom, is still at the top of states subsidized by federal dollars, receiving $1.84 back from Washington for every $1 that Alaskans pay in federal taxes. (California receives 78 cents for every $1.)

These Alaskans are pretty good scammers.

15. 85% to 89% of the Alaska state budget comes from oil
I was born in Alaska. The citizens get a rebate from oil revenue every year. This year, under Palin, its bigger than normal.

They don't need no stinkin' taxes on their citizens, they get it all from those of us in the lower 48 when we pay for gas.

(Alaska is a very strange place. I had never run into crazy religious nut cases before I went back to Alaska in 1981. Imagine me, high on life (or an approximation of life, I was younger then) walking into a crazy religious store and seeing plastic waving hands that said "wave if you love Jesus" and candy hearts with bible sayings on them. I'm not religious, but if I were, I'd be offended. And everywhere you see pick up trucks with gun racks and "legalize marijuana" bumper stickers. Its a very odd place.)

17. Not "it's $", rather "its $" - no apostrophe in possessive its
"it's" is just for "it is", "its" is like "his" and "hers"

pet peeve.

18. The whole let's stand up to oil companies why pushing for them
to have more drilling access is all smoke and mirrors.

Would the oil companies put up with an additional tax for a while in order to guarantee another oil hack in the Whitehouse? Of course.
