9. actually, new research is using types of skin cells like stem cells which

might eliminate some of the controversy - let me look for a reference (just got to that point in the video and she did say skin - I think she doesn't REALLY understand it though, and she's clearly wanting it INSTEAD of embryonic stem cell research).

on edit - a couple of posts below have references.

....... no, why would I do that! lol

however, since knowledge is power......

"Scientists have turned an ordinary skin cell into what appears to be an embryonic stem cell. The process may eventually eliminate the controversial step of destroying human embryos for stem cell research." Is prob. what she was referring to.

7. Hate to burst all your bubbles but she DID say skin cell & it's a new technology
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/02/080211172631.htm

UCLA stem cell scientists have reprogrammed human skin cells into cells with the same unlimited properties as embryonic stem cells without using embryos or eggs.

8. Scientists have made a discovery recently that adult skin cells
can become "pluripotent" cells with gene manipulation.

The hope is this eventually eliminates the need altogether for embryonic cells.

For now it doesn't. But perhaps that's what she was talking about.
