Joe Biden will handle Sarah Palin with "kid gloves" during the debate. For those wanting red meat... |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 02:37 AM by Blue_Roses
it ain't gonna happen. Here's why: First and foremost, Joe Biden is a nice guy. He cares about family, friends, and honesty. He knows Sarah Palin is lying during these interviews (and you can be sure he has watched them to the point of memory) but he also knows the repub machine and how they use their own. This is where Biden will be soft. No matter how "pitbullish" Palin is, Biden will cut her slack.
I have no doubt he will bring clarity and wisdom to the debate, but he will not do anything to diminish Sarah Palin as a woman, mother, and human. He's just that nice.
And that's why Barack Obama picked him.
And that's why I'm so proud of our Democratic ticket:D

Layfayette...Breax Bridge Crawfish Festival? Fun times. I went to LA Tech, lived in Shreveport all my growing days, ran with a "fun" crowd during Mardi Gras (never understood that baby in the king cake) and loved the hell out of Bloody Mary's at the Court of Two Sisters...
What were we talkiing about again...fun times...:D

Would you be proud if president mccain got to pick two more right wing supreme court justices for your children to grown up under?
Democrats who are proud of the high road are not thinking things through.
How many children are dead in Iraq because Kerry took the high road?
Disgusting!

And I can guarantee you that you want see Biden taking it easy on Palin. She can kiss the coasting she has been getting away with goodbye. After Biden is finished with her she will heading back to Alaska with her head hung in shame.

if it was a real debate, yeah, he could do some damage. But they're not real debates. Whatever Joe says, Palin will respond with her scripted talking points and zingers.

11. She will probably try at first |
|
But further into the debates she will have to start responding with legitimate policy and substance, all of her weaknesses, and when she does she is going to get burned. If she doesn't respond to a substantive debate then she will get laughed off that stage. I know many conservatives, friends of mine, that already have her on a tight leash, and after her interview with Gibson last night, that leash is turning into a choke.

I didn't realize I pluralized debate. I typed to many "s". I should have said further into the debate she will have to respond with substance.

4. If Palin is stupid enough to go after him during the debate, he'll defend himself |
|
And it won't be pretty for Palin. Joe's a nice guy, but he's not going to lay back if he's being smeared or his record being lied about. He'll do it politely, and without question Palin won't come out looking good afterwards.

I have no doubt he will defend attacks, but I see it more as a "scolding" ...when's he's finished, it will be crystal clear who the better choice will be. That's the beauty of wisdom:D

And Biden's response w/ be another Lloyd Bentson/Dan Quayle moment. Quayle got elected VP, but his political career was ended by Bentson's rejoinder; if anything, I see the same w/ Palin.
These debates are going to be fun to watch...

He will be gentlemanly, and statesman like - he will simply answer the questions and be polite toward Palin.
The media will HAIL it as a victor for Palin, the right wing will hail it as a victory, but they would REGARDLESS of what happened, only they won't get to use the victim card.
The people with BRAINS will be left to decide between an incredibly well versed, likeable, statesmanlike Biden, and a sharky, completely unknowledgeable con artist.
Sorry, it is NOT going to be some "fullfilling" moment where Biden works her over - heck, all Charlie Gibson did was ask REAL questions and not be able to hide his disdain for interviewing someone not even the first bit equiped to operate at the national level and he is getting panned as being mean to her - AND THEY HANDPICKED HIM, over every "journalist" in the country.

26. Good Manners demand he go right after her....hard |
|
He will have to walk a fine line... No easy task. He can't be seen as demeaning her or bullying her or patting her on the head. But He must deflate her line of bullshit, He must expose her as a faker.
I hope he nails her with grace and courtesy. Good manners demand it.

27. Yes, Joe is a good person but he will call her out on McCain's policies and her lies |
|
He won't drag her into the mud but he will make points about McCain's non policies and the lies she has spread about her record. Remember the debate is not a back and forth, it is non confrontational. It is set up to give the candidates different sets of questions and they answer those questions. I don't think they rebut anything, correct me if I am wrong.

But he will clearly display who is the better equipped to be Vice President. And President, God forbid, if need be.
Joe Biden knows this stuff. How many Senatorial debates/Presidential Debates has he done over the years?
Joe will make us proud. Again. :-)

What a lot of people do not understand is that John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton are all senators, and among senators there is a particular type of institutional courtesy.
