New Gingrich on why Palin horrifies liberals--A rant
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 06:53 AM by bklyncowgirl
According to the NYT Blog the Values Voter Summit, organized by the Family Research Council wants Sarah Palin to speak at their convention.

Quoth that famous family guy, Newt Gingrich, you know, the one who served wife #1--or was it #2 while she was in the hospital battling cancer, the guy who was schtupping his own intern while eviscerating Bill Clinton for his affair with Monica Lewinsky:

“They find Governor Palin quite horrifying because she actually believes in God, she actually believes in family, she actually has five children, and she actually is a conservative,” Mr. Gingrich said. “And that combination to them is literally inconceivable. It is as though John McCain had gone to Mars and brought back an alien in terms of their world.”

No Newt. We don't find Sarah Palin horrifying because she believes in God and family. We find her horrifying because she, like you is a God damned hypocrite.

Give me a break. Let's take a look at McCain/Palin family values.

John McCain, Cheated on wife #1 who waited faithfully for him through his years in a prison. Dumped wife #1 for a younger, prettier and above all richer model whose personal wealth helped spark his political career.

Sarah Palin: After fumbling her way through college (6 schools in five years) married her high school sweetheart suspiciously close to the time that her first child was born. That child, Track Palin, who's quite the hockey player and also quite the party animal, was reportedly given a choice by a judge of jail time or joining the military and being sent to Iraq. for vandalizing a school bus. Child #2 Bristol Palin has, thanks to her mother's accepting John McCain's invitation to become his running mate, become the world's most famous unwed teen mother, thereby bumping Brittany Spear's baby sister from that exalted position. The soon to be son in law has described himself on his MySpace Page as an *#!% redneck who doesn't want children--too bad the young man didn't think about that before having unprotected sex with the governor's daughter. Of course in order to protect themselves he and his beloved would have had to known about and have access to birth control--something to which Sarah Palin is strongly opposed.

In contrast, there has not been the slightest whiff of scandal regarding Barack Obama's private life (if there had been, no doubt the Clinton's would have dug it out and displayed it to the world months ago). When both parents are campaigning, his kids are being taken care of by Michelle's mom, a formidable African-American matriarch if there ever was one--not paid nannies. Joe Biden also appears to be a real family guy type. This is someone who instead of sending his kids off to boarding school or hiring a nanny, after the death of their mother, chose to take the train home every night so he could be with them. Both have strong, accomplished, professional wives who balance home and career in an exemplary fashion.

You would think that the people who want to pry into our bedrooms and keep our kids ignorant of sex and birth control are going to have to go through some interesting contortions to justify this. Or maybe they won't have to at all. After all, in their world, divorce, adultery and teen pregnancy are apparently OK--as long as you're a Republican.

Subject line edited so maybe someone this post won't sink so fast.

2. Newt, Tony Perkins, Grover Norquist and a group of high level far right powerhouses
These guys pretty much told Gramps that it was Caribou Barbie or they were going to walk out of the convention. McCain did what he always does when his principles come in conflict with his ambition. He did what he had to do to, country be damned.

5. I kind of agree with one part of what he said
"It is as though John McCain had gone to Mars and brought back an alien"

You must admit, she is quite strange.

Can the Obama campaign "clip" and use that segment from Newt in a campaign ad? "Even Newt thinks she's an alien" type of thing? I know it would be out of context, but no worse, and probably not as bad or as blatantly incorrect/misleading as the Obama kindergarten sex ad.
