Obama Speaks With Houston Mayor, Offers Help With Ike

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

The Land of Lincolner gets an update on the storm from Mayor Bill White Friday evening, he says they’re prepared for Ike.

Obama says he’ll do whatever he can to help, including fundraise on his website for relief efforts.

The eye of the storm powered ashore Galveston, Texas at 3:10 am ET with 110 mph winds, just shy of a Category 3 storm. Forecasters say it will pound the coast for much of the morning.

1. Nice move. And with Barack, you know it's more than a scripted gesture.
Anyone know if he's cancelled his appearance on SNL?

4. It was posted a few times that he did indeed cancel his SNL appearance
Although I didn't check out the posts. Apparently MSNBC & CNN reported it.

Barack's heart is in the right place. That's why I :loveya: him. He genuinely cares about people and their lives.
