Sweet Mother of God, what is the hold up?! Sweet jumping MARY AND JOSEPH!!
I feel like Chris Farley having to beg like this, but I know DUers can help refute the lies & reveal the truth about McCain/Palin on the Cincinnati Enquirer's web sites that got 32.9 million page views in August. DUers already have all the skills needed to slay the dragons of lies and innuendo.

Please go to this article, create a log in and start refuting the lies.

McCain has 4-point Ohio lead
But plenty of voters are still uncommitted, poll shows

The poll shows that McCain has a 48 percent to 44 percent lead over Obama.

But it also shows that a large portion of likely voters - 23 percent - are still "up for grabs," said Eric W. Rademacher, co-director of the Ohio Poll.

Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 08:57 AM by PerpetuallyDazed
I watched our local evening news last night, here in Columbus, Ohio, and they quoted a Quinnipac poll that had Obama leading. Don't remember the numbers, but distinctly remember OBAMA IN THE LEAD! I'm looking for them now.

AH HAH! http://news.bostonherald.com/news/national/politics/2008/view/2008_09_11_Poll:_Obama_opens_up_lead_in_Ohio/srvc=home&position=recent

"Obama led McCain 49-44 percent, according to the Quinnipiac University poll."

4. The Cincinnati Enquirer, IMO, has always been a crap newspaper.
I think half or more of their editorial board wishes Nixon were still in office. The remaining half or so believe he IS in office.

Cincinnati is a great city. It is flung onto a series of hills along the Ohio River and in my next life I want to live on one of those homes atop Mt. Adams and UC is very, very impressive, etc.

But there are a frighteningly high number of Far Right kooks running a lot of its basic institutions.

6. It doesn't matter, what matters is we have 32.9 million page views & the ability to act as citizen..
journalists.

If you PM me I will send you the link to the web site I created for my team of responders.

If every active DUer spent 20 minutes a day helping refute lies from dittoheads we could drown them out & refute the lies & smears.

Here is an example of one of my smackdowns

general assessment of media in SW Ohio.

14. And I appreciate anything any DUer does to help in this election, but we know...
that the time spent typing on DU if applied to other forums where we aren't just influencing the choir can only help because it gives us a chance to influence undecideds.

In 2004 many DUers were posting "Push yourself away from the keyboards & get out their & GOTV for Kerry".

In 2008 we don't even have to push away from the keyboards we just have to pivot to posting on MSM sites & popping in to DU to catch up on strategy, & pertinate Late Breaking News & Editorials.

I personally am only using DU right now for those reasons AND to recruit more activist team members.

I am spending an incredible amount of time posting under 2 logins on the Cinti Enquirer's web site.

While the site has attracted some great progessives who battle valiantly, there is a mushrooming of lieing dittoheads also. So the more keyboard warriors we have the stronger our forces appear.

5. DUers this is what I just wrote...
What matters is the eyeballs of the independent voters & those whose #1 issue is the economy. at the very least click through & rate my comment up

I know I cannot afford my heat bill this winter, I am struggling to find ever more affordable things to put in my shopping cart, but as I am already buying store brands rather than national and every few weeks the prices on those products keep going up.

To add insult to injury my share of my employer sponsored health care is going up again this year as it has every year, my company is laying off workers every few months and now I find out John McCain is going to tax me on the value of my health care benefits.

John McCain needs to get a clue. Cutting earmarks will do nothing to stimulate the economy.

We need an FDR, not a Herbert Hoover with his head in the sand!

I am worried because the 527 ads are coming out from the other side and they look nasty. It's time to fight and every Obama supporter needs to get on board.

15. And if all you can do to help is be a keyboard warrior on an MSM site where undecideds...
and in play influencables can be educated by thoughtful factual posts AND posts that refute the lies & smears, then we can at least say we did what we know how to do and that is engage in thoughtful truthful debate.

19. I agree, in 2004 an MIT student was looking for Swing Staters to submit LTTEs to their newspapers...
she was cranking them out but the newspapers were only printing a few a day so none got published

In 2008 we are no longer dependent on the gatekeepers & we can use the MSM web sites own infrastructure to publish ourselves.

11. DUers that article on McCain's lead in OH went from 1 to 77 comments & is now in Most
Commented in the right hand navigation on every article page. This prime navigational spot means more eyeballs for your comments. Keep up the good work DUers! Unfortunately freepers are also all over this thread.

Ohio Poll: McCain leading (77)

Obama has strong religious convictions, he has written plans for millions of new US jobs, he has a written plan to reduce our overseas oil dependency, he will REDUCE taxes for us under $111,000/yr incomes, he has leadership vision, he has MORE experience than 30 previous presidents, as a constitutional lawyer praised by conservatives, he understands and respects the constitution; John McCain voted against his party a few times but sadly is now "being run" by RNC who made him select a bible literalist and woman to get votes, and the 90% Bush support is fact

One of my most committed team members, though not a DUer wrote this

This is one of the most biased polls in the COUNTRY!!!. As a UC grad, I'm assamed this poll is called the Ohio poll. It should be renamed Ohio Republican Poll. The head of the department was a campaign manager for George Voinovich and was heavily involved in the Taft campaigns. This poll is very very biased. Let the Republicans keep publishing and printing the report, most know McCain is NOT winning in Ohio.

I do not know enough about the Ohio poll to comment on its accuracy. A post-convention bounce is normal, but the respected Quinnipiac University poll shows Obama's lead growing here. "Ohio: Obama is up 49 - 44 percent, compared to 44 - 43 percent last time."

If McCain supporters stepped outside of your Fox News bubble & actually used the Internet to do some of your own research, you would see that electing McCain—who admits himself he hasn't the chops to fix our economy and wants the war in Iraq to go on indefinitely—isn't the American thing to do. Don't like Obama, vote for someone else, write your own name in but stop being an ideologic zealot.

As a reminder to the comments I've seen here that you're voting for Palin, well, I hate to break it to you but she is NOT running for POTUS, John McCain is. Unless of course you're secretly hoping that, if elected, he'll meet an early end which makes you un-American.

Lastly, if you think Sarah Palin is in any form ready to be in either position, I have one thing to say, you HATE THIS COUNTRY. If you know what the Bush Doctrine is, you're better qualified to be VP. Voting for someone as unqualified as yourself, is not patriotic, it's idiotic.

Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 09:42 AM by rosebud57
Safe staters & Not in Play staters find a newspaper website in a state where Obama needs you.

The Cincinnati Enquirer in SW Ohio is but one example of a paper whose web site has comment, blogging & recommend tools that we can use to refute lies, attack McCain & shape the debate.

Here is an example of an article on the McCain kindergarten sex ad. Read the comments & recommend the good ones or create a log in & weigh in. You will be read by voters in SW Ohio a state Obama MUST WIN!
