EXCELLENT Bob Herbert op-ed - She’s Not Ready
He sounds frustrated, outraged, and scared, which is exactly how I feel. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/13/opinion/13herbert.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

While watching the Sarah Palin interview with Charlie Gibson Thursday night, and the coverage of the Palin phenomenon in general, I’ve gotten the scary feeling, for the first time in my life, that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail.

1. Hello where has he been it has already prevailed with Bush occupying
the White House for the past eight years. The thing is making sure it does not happen again.

4. True
and that's basically what Herbert says in the last paragraph. Also, from what I remember (please, no throwing stones), it was somewhat less obvious back in 2000. I keep seeing snippets from the Palin interview and I get more and more appalled at the complete cluelessness. If I were not so mad, I would ALMOST feel sorry for her, she is so obviously completely over her head. And I am not even considering the content, such as it is, of what she is saying. I can get mad at McCain and a long list of others that say things that I completely disagree with, but at least they know what they are talking about. As I wrote in some other thread, I have been teaching for many years, and she was exactly like a student that has studied a lot at the very last moment before the exam, and regurgitates things she remembered, but without a shred of understanding of what the hell they are talking about. Appalling!!!

7. He's just alarmed and appalled, as we all should be.
If God forbid she does become President, she--and WE--will be at the mercy of God Knows Who in her cabinet and among her advisors--probably more neocons like Bolton and Lieberman who are aggravated at Bush for not invading Iran.

9. The thought of Palin as President
is... is... inconceivable. We would probably regret the good old times when GWB was president. I mean it.

11. Well please, then, Bob Herbert, tell that to your pals in TV news. Get them to stop lying for
the GOP.

Remind them how serious things are please, Bob Herbert.

Call one of those guys every day, please. They know you better than they know me.

And keep your own editorials coming about the incompetence of the McLame who made that rash decision and the extreme fundamentalist lightweight who really doesn't know squat about foreign policy except she can point at Russia,

and a lot of foreigners won't get to go up with Jesus in the Rapture, anyway.
