I just got back from canvassing, we had to stop because it is raining so badly that all of our paperwork was getting soaked.
After several weeks of phone banking and canvassing, I have figured this much out:
Many of the undecided voters, contrary to the view that they are low information voters who are clueless, are the types of people with some conservative views and some liberal views and they are really undecided which way to come down on things this election. Yes, there are some who just haven't been following things but a lot of those votes are the votes of people who are very engaged. They seem to be leaning Obama. It makes me think we have to fight for every vote and in the end we will be o.k.

1. Thank you for what you do, and the debates will help those who need |
|
the assistance.
What is said about McCain; now that he has an ultra Conservative extremist on his ticket, he thinks he can now court the middle. I find it disturbing that he would be so obvious and believe that this is not evident.

2. Are you canvassing everyone or just registered Democrats? |
|

3. We are canvassing independents and borderline |
|
republicans. We know we have the democrats and we do call them. It is the swing voters we personally visit. Those are the votes that will determine this election. It can be tough going depending on the neighborhood and sometimes a little disheartening. But then you get to the person who tells you that they voted both times for Bush and that they are just sick of the republicans and are going for Obama.

them. So whoever is campaigning use all your charm and sweetness as it is all in play here they only need to know we care. Not that you used the 'r' word just saying in generally it's all in play and all down to whether we want this change hard enough.

5. Where Are You Canvassing? |
|
This sounds more promising than some canvassing reports we have seen here as well as most recent polls.
What is keeping the undecided voters undecided?
I have the greatest respect for those who are able go out and persuade voters to vote our way, especially those who can do it in a strange place far from home ("you're not from around here!").
