Obama Camp: McCain "cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern history."
Obama camp: 'Disgusting lies,' 'not worthy'

Sensing, perhaps, a turn in the media against McCain's stunts, Obama spokesman Bill Burton puts out a scorching statement:

“We will take no lectures from John McCain who is cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern Presidential campaign history. His discredited ads with disgusting lies are running all over the country today. He runs a campaign not worthy of the office he is seeking,” said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

1. Good. Now to actually do something intelligent and make an ad about his sleazy campaign and run it
everywhere...

Sitting back and pointing out to reporters other news organizations coverage of McCain's smears is great and all, but it really doesn't help in a campaign sense.

4. Exactly
these need to be ads not press statements or releases. The majority of Americans will not be reached with a statement released by the Obama camp.

donate money to have that opportunity to make him look like the lying troll that he is on national tv.

6. Sensing just the media is turning.. How about the entire country is turning.
There was a thought back in June by the pundits that McCain may be going negative too early and using himself to go negative. Normally, the last month or so is used for the negative and the lies. John McCain put out approved messages against Obama and I remember Tweety saying, "is this a good strategy to go negative this early in the season. Does McCain run the risk of turning the voters off?" Remember, the swiftboaters were a 527 group. Bush was NOT saying "I approve of this message."

9. McCain has completely betrayed his honor and reputation, he is a POW of his own ambition
he cares no longer for the US, he only cares for himself and for his superegotistical desire to show his father that he, John McCain, a failed pilot, a lousy student, a disappointment to his father, was able to attain the Presidency. The Presidency of the US in not an honorable and patriotic ideal for Mr. McCain, it is the coronation of decades of wallowing in the mud of lobbyists and the icing on the cake of a miserable angry man. McCain is no patriot for every patriot will indeed put country first and not his ambition first. He is a man who is dead to America, a man who sold his soul to the Rovian machine, a man so weak that he makes Czar Nicholas III's blind trust for Rasputin excusable. John S. McCain, no honor, no integrity, no intellect, no patriotism, no core values, no honesty, no dignity. That is the man that is running on behalf of the Republican Party to become President of the US

13. Great - but where exactly was this statement sent out?
That has got to be put into a TV commercial or said on Meet the Press or any national TV show.
Otherwise, it's like a tree falling in the forest.

Obama is now whining and crying like a little kid. What gives? His campaign has now become a joke to most Americans. And I say this a Democrat.

the media once again rallies around thier negro candidate, not caring if he is qualified. they only care that he is a black sexist

Posted By: nobama | September 13, 2008 at 12:33 PM

Me thinks he doth protest too much. Obama is showing his true colors now. He's a diciple of the Daley machine in Chicago, and George Soros is picking up his tabs. The McCain campaign should have dropped the "nice guy" approach a lot earlier. It's about time Obama was called out. Too bad the media hasn't been looking as closely at Obama as it has been at Palin. Had Obama received a close look, Hillary would be the nominee today. Obama is scared to death at this point ... and he's just going to keep shooting himself in the foot, it seems. He has a lot to hide ... and let's hope it all comes out before the election. But don't expect the MSM to do the exposing.

22. It's not bitching. They're creating a narrative on McCain. It's strategy.
That he's a liar, sleazy and unfit to be president. The media is finally calling him out on it.

Now, the Obama campaign can create TV ads calling McCain a liar, dishonorable, losing his integrity, etc. etc. etc.

The more McCain is called a liar and dishonorable, the more the American people will see him that way.

28. Bitching
in a statement means what? LA LA LA bitch LA LA LA. Put some ads out there and hammer McCain and don't tell me Obama's camp is doing it either. I live on the border of Ohio and Pa, ( I'm able to receive 5 TV stations from Ohio and 6 from PA),and all you see from Obama camp is the same ad that's been playing for 2 months. McCain ads are all over the air waves. New ones every week. There are still Hillary and Ron Paul signs around. McCain signs everywhere. No Obama signs.

Radio ads for McCain, NONE for Obama. Don't you think with people spending so much time in automobiles there would be some radio ads? Where are they?

Exactly how does he expect to win with this type of message? Vote for me because I'm Obama, it won't work.

This is the first time in 36 years of voting Democrat that I haven't been contacted by the party. McCain has contacted me 3 times asking for support and I've turned them down. My wife is an independent and gets calls only from the republicans at least once a week, none from the democrats. She was a staunch supporter of Hillary.

As I learned while earning my business degree, if you want business get your product in front of as many potential customers as you can. Obama is the product and he's not doing a good job of selling his product, himself.

34. This quote attacks a campaign, not a person
How about calling John McCain a sleazy liar instead of dodging around it by saying that the campaign is sleazy?

Also, get rid of the word "cynically" - that word is totally unneeded and plays into the elitist image that the Republicans are trying to paint. It's also at the beginning of the sentence, confusing some people and weakening the message.

John McCain's campaign proves that he is a sleazy lying candidate and would be the same as president.

Make it simple and aim for the target (McCain's character), not near the target.

Obama isn't trying to undermine John McCain's presidential campaign strategy, he is trying to undermine McCain's personal character. That's what people are voting on.
