If you travel a lot and do a lot of business, high limits are surprisingly useful. Back when I had a small and modestly profitable business I would sometimes move more than $100k through my personal credit card in a month, which is an immensely convenient way to manage business expenses. I was far from a millionaire, but many credit card companies have nice high limit cards for people that need to buffer large quantities of short-term expenses. Since the credit card companies get a cut of the transaction, they make a mint on those cards even if the balance never carries.
