Could Kay Hagan help Obama in North Carolina?
I beleive Kay Hagan has a excellent chance of beating the incumbent NC Republican senator, Elizabeth Dole in the 2008 election. Our television stations have been getting a full assault of her excellent "Libby Dole is 93rd in effectiveness" ads for weeks now. They have definitely made a impact and Dole is playing catch-up big time.

Her positive ads pretty much promote the same agenda as Obama.

Do you think she could do some ad that promotes a straight Democratic ticket, and have Obama pick up some votes he otherwise might not have gotten? Perhaps a joint rally, even? Or is she hesitant, like other southern democrats, to take the chance right now?

The votes I am talking about are those in rural NC who might like Kay, but are hesitant about Obama cause of the race thing. I mean, could they be "pushed" into going straight Dem at the polls so they won't have time to think about any negative perception of Obama?

1. If the negative perception is based solely upon race,
then the answer is no. But for others who have merely been confused, there is a chance, but it should be done in this way: I think that what needs to happen in NC is to push the fact that McCain wants to take away Social Security, make the working person pay taxes on his health insurance benefits, and stuff like that. If a person realizes that one fellow will rob his pocketbook, they are more likely to vote for the other fellow.

2. Actually it will probably end up being Obama who gurantees Hagen's win
why? African-American voters will be out in record numbers and more than 90% will vote for Obama and that will benefit candidates like Hagen tremendously. Hagen will poll better among whites than Obama will, but it will be the avalanche of black voters which will put Hagen over the top, It might be enough for Obama but that remains to be seen if enough white voters can put their country rather than their prejudice first.
