My fear if we don't win this election is |
|
That it will be a long time until we do again :o(
People don't like rooting for a losing team, and this will be the third time in a row. I'm afraid we will lose a lot of people because of this.
The south always goes for the republican, it always comes down to the same states, and the repubs know all the dirty tricks to take a close race and win it.
I feel like I'm living 2004 all over again... And Obama is a much stronger candidate than Kerry.
I know we still have the debates but Kerry kicked butt on the debates and Bush came off looking like a fool and he still won.
Obama deserves this presidency. Something needs to change. I can't believe it's even a close race and that anyone by watching McCain talk for more than 5 minutes thinks he would make a good president?

1. No Need To Worry About That |
|
If we don't win, I doubt the USA will survive (at least as we know it today).

3. I think a loss would kill off the Dem party for awhile. African Americans have |
|
been voting for white candidates and particularly white women candidates. Dems nominate a black candidate and the white democrats and particularly white women democrats flee. I think a loss will depress the black vote for a very long time.

So African American Americans are going to leave a party that will give Senator Obama at least eighty five percent of their votes for a party that will give him seven percent of their votes and didn't nominate him in the first place...
I fail to see the logic...
Independents are the only reason this race is close...

5. If we do not win it is our own arrogance |

to blame. Never should we have permitted the vicious, hatefulness infighting during the democratic primaries. DU was a great participant. I equate the abuse within our own Party to that of incest.

It is scary, these last months of democracy! (well, hopefully not!) All we can do is try our best, and NOT let Obama give up the fight or concede the race when it is obvious they have stolen it.

17. well this is how I explained to one of my friends |
|
from my understanding, there are more democrats than republicans.
Because of that there is some "fighting" in our party because it's such a broad base. We don't have the unity that the repubs do.. they are smaller, and on the same narrow minded road lol. Plus they are willing to speak the "talking points" with a straight face to each other.
Dems aren't like that, we are all different.
In one of the books I'm reading it speaks of this too.. the different "groups" inside the democrat party and there are a lot of different groups and they are all so different from each other.
the repubs basically have fundies, and greedy wealthy people.. that's it. that's as diverse as it gets.
We've got to find a way to stay united.

do something for the campaign. Threads like that suck in a really big way.

24. How Is That Supposed to Work? |
|
We are supposed to bottle up our fears and discuss them with noone, and still be able to go out and be perky and charming to the voters we are trying to persuade?
That's great if you can do that. I can't.
There is more to this site than cheerleading.
One of the functions of Democratic Underground is that of a support group for frightened, discouraged, depressed, and burned-out Democrats. It has served that function for many of us since its inception. Note that the highest volume EVER on this board was right AFTER Election Fraud 2004.

|
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 05:40 PM by andym
The danger is 16 years of going in the wrong direction (McCain-->Palin) because of the incumbent's advantage. By then (if it isn't already) the damage to America may be irreversible.

country up... one side democrats with a democrat president, one side repubs with republican leadership.
