I know we are supposed to ignore her, but this is just TOO good not to share
WASILLA, Alaska — Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as one of her qualifications for running the roughly $2 million agency.

Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

When Ms. Palin had to cut her first state budget, she avoided the legion of frustrated legislators and mayors. Instead, she huddled with her budget director and her husband, Todd, an oil field worker who is not a state employee, and vetoed millions of dollars of legislative projects.

And four months ago, a Wasilla blogger, Sherry Whitstine, who chronicles the governor’s career with an astringent eye, answered her phone to hear an assistant to the governor on the line, she said.

“You should be ashamed!” Ivy Frye, the assistant, told her. “Stop blogging. Stop blogging right now!”

Buried later on is a discussion of the book banning incident, where her former campaign manager mentions that Palin wanted to ban a book she hadn't read.

C ya,

Check out this link http://www.andrewhalcro.com/nov_19_no_spilling_the_milk_a_gag_order_on_the_matanuska_maid_fiasco

Second, Havemeister has violated her own prohibition against using information to benefit "the staff or his or her family."

In fact, Havemeister even after being told not to, has reportedly had repeated meetings in her office with local farmers hoping to lease Mat Maid's equipment at a sweetheart price. Her father in law is one of the main players in the newly formed SouthCentral Dairy Co-Op.

At the last Creamery Board meeting on November 11, the board voted to lease the equipment to the newly formed co-op.

She keeps her cronies connected and they all profit.

Franci was fascinated with farms and particularly milk cows as a young person. After moving to the valley with her folks, she was immersed in a community filled with many farm families. Not surprisingly her fascination with cows and farms eventually introduced her to her future husband, the son of dairy farmers. Franci has seen, first hand, the challenges that Alaska dairy farmers experienced and wanted a change - a good and positive change. One where farmers not only made a descent living, but were respected for their hard work, knowledge and contribution to the social and economic fabric of Alaska.

You may remember the rally in June, a few days after Global Food Alaska, staged at the Havemeister Dairy Farm in Palmer where community came together to show their support for the farms after Matanuska Maid announced its closure. Franci was fully mobilized and was appointed to the new Agricultural Board. One of their new functions would be to identify a new Director and she was encouraged to apply for the position.

15. From the same blog, this is CHOICE....
http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/2008/09/quote-of-day_12.html

"Ready for a lesson in Alaska geography/International Affairs? Off the coast of Nome, 532 miles northwest of Anchorage (the closest city) is an island called Little Diomede. Little Diomede is 2.4 miles east of the island called Big Diomede, which is in Russia.

Little Diomede, Alaska has a population of 146. It is 2.5 square miles in area. There are 42 children in the school. Nobody drives to work. Big Diomede is a whopping 26 square miles. On a clear day you can see the Island of Big Diomede from the western shore of Little Diomede. Therefore Sarah Palin is capable of negotiating with Putin and Sakashvili to peacefully settle the violent conflict that has been burgeoning in the separatist enclave of South Ossetia."

19. The NYT has this
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/us/politics/14palin.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

And it is not about Palin, it is about McCain's poor judgment and pandering. Though he mocked celebrity, he chose celebrity over experience and qualifications. He did to his ticket what he mocked about Obama's campaign.

Tell your republican friends that you are sorry that the party stuck them with McCain and then he pandered to them by naming Palin over more experienced candidates, both male and female. Tell them to direct their anger where it belongs, at their party.

She seems like a person that got lucky to get as far as she has! I really don't think she is all that cunning or intelligent, just look at the interview. If she was that sharp, she would have answered Charlie's questions with answers that didn't put her in a corner.

28. She knows how to prey on the feelings of others to her advantage.
I won't underestimate her but I'm not going to lift her to a pedestal that she doesn't deserve. While McCain is more of Bush, the Palins complete the picture with their Cheney-esque shadow governments.

41. Hey, what about me??!!
I have plenty of qualifications!

Secretary of State - I lived in Korea before, so I can deal with North Korea, Japan, China, and Russia.

Secretary of the Treasury - I have a checking account, and pay my bills.

Secretary of Education - I'm in college, so I'm a recent expert about K-12 education and current expert on post-secondary education.

Secretary of Health and Human Services - I've been in hospitals, day cares, and such.

Secretary of Energy - I studied thermodynamics in chemistry. (in case someone doesn't know, it's the study of the movement of energy) Then again, I might be overqualified for this.

Secretary of Agriculture - I live in Iowa, and I was in 4-H. Enough said.

And, last but not least...

Vice President - Unlike Moosealini, I {b]KNOW what a VP does!
