“Uppity” Democrats Not Treating Mizz Scarlett Palin with “Deference” and “Respect” White Woman Due
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 06:50 PM by McCamy Taylor
Scarlett: As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again. Gone With The Wind

Forget the finger bowls, butter knives and lace doilies. I am going to cut through the racial bullshit with a machete, the kind that our ancestors of all races---Black slaves from Africa and white bond servants from England and captive Native Americans used to cut sugarcane back when England was first establishing colonies in the West Indies.

The myth of White Southern Womanhood was created after the Civil War to give the business and landowning class in the South an excuse to persecute, brutalize and oppress their former slaves. Being Christians in name if not in deed, they could not just say “We want to treat you as if you are still our property and work you like dogs for subsistence wages in defiance of federal law.” Not with federal law enforcement breathing down their necks during Reconstruction. So, they had to do what Bush-Cheney did. They had to pretend to be afraid of the poor, unarmed, scattered, malnourished ex-slaves who lived in fear of lynch mobs. In particular, they had to pretend to be afraid that a member of the most oppressed minority in the South would dare to talk to, look at, whistle at or even (gasp) touch the hem of the skirt of a white woman, causing her to plunge to her death from the nearest cliff in shame as demonstrated in W. D. Griffith’s movie The Birth of a Nation (aka The Clansmen).

W.J. Cash’s The Mind of the South is a good resource for those who would like to know more about the hypocrisy of the wealthy individuals who came up with this scam. As always, when one sector of the working class (in this case, Blacks) was singled out as evil it was to increase someone else’s wealth. If the work force was divided, the bosses could use this infighting to keep the growing labor movement out of the south. Populist politics were flourishing in the U.S around the turn of the century. All across the country, business leaders had seized upon the notion of pitting different immigrant groups against each other (sound familiar?). The KKK targeted Catholics (i.e Irish, Italian) and others as part of a divide and conquer action for the new industrialists who were determined to keep workers’ weak and their wages low. No group, except perhaps women, were more valued as cheap, unskilled, easy to abuse labor than America’s Blacks.

And therefore, anti-African-American racism was encouraged in movies ( Birth of a Nation ) in newspapers, in popular culture. Only during the two world wars, when Black soldiers were needed to fight and needed to work in war time industry did the economically motivated institutionalized racism suddenly change to economically motivated institutionalized pro-Black sentiment. And those two wars, coming one on top of the other in such quick succession lead to the modern civil rights movement---to the dismay of southern business and land owners.

You and I, reading this, know that the whole thing is a scam, but there are millions of Americans who believed Reagan when he talked about Welfare Queens. . Many of these are the same people people who wept when Scarlett O’Hara’s ungrateful slaves left her to suffer hunger and poverty. They admired her spunk, and they saw nothing wrong with her words If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill —since they knew that it was Black folks that she planned to lie to, steal from, cheat and kill.

This is why Team McCain thinks that Mizz Scarlett Palin can lie, lie, lie and get away with it. This is why they think that she can shoot wolves from planes, wipe out polar bears and shrug off global warming----even as Hurricane Ike sinks the Texas Gulf coast. This is why they think that she can abuse her authority as governor of Alaska to get revenge against her ex-brother-in-law, even going so far as to deny him a workman's comp claim and then abuse executive privilege and even threaten to start wars with Russia. Because she is just doing it to get even for all the hurts and indignities that she and they---white folks---have had to suffer at the hands of Black folks. And rich Arabs. And Latinos. And anyone that they have decided Ain’t One Of Us.

Sen. Obama has been accused of being “disrespectful” of Mizz Scarlett Palin.

http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/09/disrespectful-mccain-palin-hammer-obama.html

Mizz Scarlett’s actions are reprehensible. She is a serial liar who has been called out repeatedly by multiple members of the mainstream press, even some who usually count themselves as McCain fans. She embellishes her resume, claiming that she has done things that she has not (like claiming a visit to the border of Iraq was a visit to Iraq) to make herself look more qualified than she is. She lies about positions she has taken in the past (saying she wants to "decrease" abortions when she wants to outlaw all abortions) and even about things that she has done (claiming she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere when she is on record as supporting it) in order to present herself as something that she is not to the American people. Why does the “straight talker” think that it is “disrespectful” to call a “liar” a “liar”? Disrespectful is when McCain called his wife a “cunt” in front of reporters.

Obama is not the only one guilty of abusing a White Woman. She would not give an interview, we where told, until the press learned to treat her with “respect and deference”.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/palin-media-a-2.html

Why is the press being rude to Mizz Scarlett? Team McCain would have us believe that it is because they are under the sway of ( I will compromise and call them) “uppity” Negroes, even though that is not what Congressman Westmoreland was thinking when he said

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/westmoreland-calls-obama-uppity-2008-09-04.html

"Just from what little I’ve seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they're a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they're uppity," Westmoreland said.

No, Mr. Westmoreland, you think that they are uppity. And they think that you are a racist, redneck, but they are too polite to say it, so I will say it for them. Westmoreland makes folks from Georgia like me ashamed to be from the same state.

I am also ashamed that Gone With the Wind is considered an American classic. I read this book back in 1971, when I was 12, and even at that time, I recognized that politically, Margaret Mitchell was full of shit. All of her heroes were members of the KKK! They lynched Black folks for whistling at white women. The “good” Black characters were the ones who continued to act like slaves for po’ Mizz Scarlett even after they won their freedom. “Bad” Blacks were the ones who abandoned their duties to their masters----

There is something pathetic about Gone With the Wind and about the Big Lie that Team McCain is offering American voters. For one thing, the real Mizz Scarlett O'Hara---and the real Cindy McCain---would not give the time of day to most of the voters they are trying to court. If anyone watched the Republican Convention during Palin's speech, the look on Roberta McCain's face was priceless. She looked as if she had been sucking on a pickle. That is what the elite uppity members of the Republican Party think about the just plain folks that Palin is supposed to represent. They go after their votes every four years---and then they abandon them for the other three.

Mizz Scarlett Palin is being packaged for working class white voters who have seen their real income decline, their health care benefits disappear or become inadequate, their children’s hopes for college educations vanish. Democrats are offering this group of voters discussion of the issues. Republicans respond by manufacturing fake crises like "Obama called Mizz Scarlett a Pig" to keep people from talking about their mortgage foreclosure or their lack of health insurance. Democrats offer solutions for the problems that real people face. However, the solutions will not be easy, since they involve battling entrenched, powerful special interests. Blue collar and low income working men and women know that the deck is stacked against them when it comes to confronting their bosses. It is easy for them to despair of winning that kind of war. Especially when the Republicans are there, constantly telling them You can never win this battle with the bosses. They own everything. They control everything. Give up on trying to make a difference.

And then, some slick con artist like Karl Rove comes along with a quick, easy fix. He says “Hey, it ain’t the bosses. It’s the Blacks. They are getting more than their fair share. If you could just push them farther down, there would be more for you. You know that if they get power, they are gonna steal from you, so you better hurry up and steal from them. “ And these beaten down, weak willed, scared people think to themselves “Yeah, if us whites stick together, we can beat down the Blacks, and then we can get something.” And since the bosses are all white, it makes them feel a little bit safer, because they figure the bosses are on their side---though you and I know that the only side the bosses are on is the side that makes them money. If Dick Cheney could get a good enough price for Mizz Scarlett Palin’s “virtue” from some Arab Sheik, she would be on a plane bound for Saudi Arabia tomorrow.

John McCain is going to sweep the deep south, so why bother with this Southern Strategy which will only win (racist white) votes in certain parts of the country? I think that election fraud is in the works once again. Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and maybe Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, New Hampshire, Nevada are being targeted. This will allow McCain to claim a win of electoral votes. However, if he is behind in total votes, a suspicious electoral win will not be good enough. Therefore, I believe that Rove is trying for a deep south blow out to pump up McCain’s total vote and keep the Gallup National numbers up (even if the state by state numbers and electoral numbers are not so good for McCain) so that a stolen election will look less stolen. Then, the corporate media will instruct its employees to celebrate the McCain win and put pressure on Congress not to investigate irregularities just as they did in 2004---

The best way to defeat this plan is to mount a massive Democratic turnout, one that will overwhelm the Republican voter suppression effort and their electronic voter fraud effort (which can only work within the margins of error of exit polls). The best way to turn out the Democratic base is to 1) talk about the issues and 2) remind voters of just what kind of whacky, right wing, evangelical, creationist, global warming denying, End of Days, oil industry tool, anti-choice Bush-in-Dress, 30% chance of becoming president in the next 4 years liar Mizz Scarlett is.

6. a stretch.
and no, the myth of southern womanhood was not created post-war. It was fully engaged at least a couple of decades prior to that. And Scarlett O'Hara meant black people when she uttered her famous line about lying and killing? Um, no. She meant anyone or anything that got in her way.

9. Mizz Sarah O'hara
I've never read Gone with the Wind (I know! I know! And I'm from Atlanta!!) but there's no doubt that you are definitely on to something, McCamy. I think this is probably one of the best posts I've seen from you here.

I'm a woman so of course I'm all for chivalry, but chivalry is not what the McCain people want. They want straight up SERVILITY to Mizz Sarah. If nothing else, this election cycle from the drama with Hillary to the miserable Ms. Sarah O'Hara has definitely got a lot of folks talking about the racial wounds in our country, including white female entitlement which I think is a good thing.

I also think that Barack is handling it well considering. The average black person would have long ago told Mr. McCain and Mizz Sarah where they could put their demands of obsequiousness. :)

15. What exit polls?
We no longer have any exit polls. Those are rigged first, before the votes are even counted stolen.
