GOP selling waffles with racist caricature of Obama
And this wasn't some obscure gathering either. It was the so-called "values voter" meeting, which featured such conservative leaders as serial adulterer Newt Gingrich and flip-flop king Mitt Romney.

From:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080913/ap_on_el_pr/obama_waffles

"WASHINGTON - Activists at a conservative political forum snapped up boxes of waffle mix depicting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as a racial stereotype on its front and wearing Arab-like headdress on its top flap.

Values Voter Summit organizers cut off sales of Obama Waffles boxes on Saturday, saying they had not realized the boxes displayed "offensive material." The summit and the exhibit hall where the boxes were sold had been open since Thursday afternoon."

and here's the CYA:

"David Nammo, executive director of the lobbying group FRC Action, said summit organizers were told the boxes were a parody of Obama's policy positions but had not examined them closely."

OK, so it's just some obscure vendor and the organizers of the event had no control and can't be expected to see everything.

"Wearing white chef's aprons, Whitlock and DeMoss were doing a brisk business at noon Saturday selling the waffle mix to people crowded around their booth. Two pyramids of waffle mix boxes stood several feet high on the booth's table."

Whoops!

It's funny how, after decades of ridiculing feminists and women and hiding under the flag of fighting so-called "political correctness," the GOP would have us suddenly believe that, due to nominating Palin, they're the real party of inclusion.

But, fear not, backwoods bigots still have a home in the party of McBush!

1. On what has Obama waffled? Nothing. So why the waffling box? Meant

to get attention and make waffling an issue. I hate the GOP. Just you watch. McCain will be the man of "Change" and Obama will be a "Waffler". The Rove machine will have completely taken over Obama's life and painted him as the opposite of what Obama is (his greatest strength will be gone in the minds of the electorate). Cause that is what sociopaths do.

2. They always have little gimmacks like the purple
heart bandages. They're like children who have to have some symbolic physcial "thing" to use ... simple things for simple minds. :silly:

3. of course this is blatantly racist
The "ultimate souvenir." Of for the good old days when you could buy racist memorabilia anywhere, it did not have to be so "exclusive." I actually think these people truly are racist idiots, but that is not the point here. First of all they were hoping this could be their next big thing like the John Kerry "flip-flops." But more importantly, they are hoping that this campaign will react the way they did with the Palin thing. By saying this is racist and "demanding an apology." Obama is not stupid enough to not understand that that would be politically inept, but I think they are hoping this will become the new media distraction, thanks to our awesome, independent journalists, and we can talk about this for the next week, following a week of pig lipstick debate. They are so transparent.
