So I went and saw Obama today...
I have no idea how many people were in the park, in Manchester NH, but there were thousands. We got up at 5 and were there 2-1/2 hours early and the line was blocks and blocks. We ended up sandwiched between 2 couples..maybe in their late 60's-early 70's, but we three women ended up bullshitting for over an hour. I was impressed. My 2 friends both do canvassing, and are very eager to do more. They didn't know about DU..so I put in a plug, or Kos, but they watched Jon Stewart and were very informed, and worried about the same things I expect we all are...which basically boiled down to what the tv tells us, how important informing the public is, and what is the best way to go about it. I have to say, seeing Obama was great, but talking to these women was the best. We talked about racism, election fraud, the frightening prospect of McCain, the ridiculousness of the media, and the freak that is Sarah Palin. I know that I can't expect what I saw today to be a reflection of who we are as a country, but I have to say New Hampshire impressed the hell out of me. Hubby took pictures..not so good..but this one came out alright.

13. What I wonder is how does he always look so cool?
Always freshly pressed, and cool as a cucumber.

Just the cool we need - things are bound to get hot in the next 4 years.

9. No matter the age everyone I meet and talk to says the
same thing, sarah is a freak and what can we do about her? I work at hotel and meet lots of people. I am careful because of my job of who i talk to but i can tell by how people dress, where they are from and how they talk if they are dems or dem leaning and i talk to those people.

Today i checked in two ladies and one asked me for military discount and i said are you in the military and she said my husband is in iraq, i asked how long and she said since last Dec and he has to be there till this Dec, my heart went out to her and i didn't know what to say. she looked very conservative but i couldn't help saying thats why i am voting for obama. i was afraid she was going to challenge me but she said i am too!

we started this whole conversation then about how we were both scared of sarah because she is turning the election into american idol. She was in her mid 30's and her husband has been in the military for 13 yrs.

I told her my military kids in korea are the ones to turned me on to obama also.

Earlier in the day i met two older women in their 70's both freaked out by sarah and going on and on about how terrible she is and how they are worried now.

People are definitely paying attention.

10. There was a group..
of older vets in front of us. It was amazing listening to the conversations going on around me, and the emotions being expressed in earnest.

12. In a way, these are some of the best of times.
I just got off the phone with my mother. We discussed almost exactly the same things. She'll be 80, and the Daily Show is high on her list.

Isn't this exciting? There may be many unconscious and nasty people out there, but Obama has brought us together. And that has been very much needed. It's like a healing.

I'm so glad for your wonderful day. It brings me up as well.

Let's hope we can bring that change that is so needed.

14. It really was such a feel-good..
Obama was great, and I am thrilled that I got to see him, but the conversations swirling around me, the passion and the urgency in those voices were the main event.
