I think the reasons why so many of us get dispirited so quickly include...
What we have seen before with stolen and selected elections and that in any other given year the Democratic candidate should be up by a very large margin.

Sadly, it says a lot about America that Obama and McCain are so close. But it also shows progress. And hopefully, this progress is happening in a perfect storm election year for Obama.

1. The past does not equal the future.
NOT THIS TIME.

2. Those Live In The Past Are Condemned To Repeat It
Those who want to think the election is already lost might as well stay out of the way and let those of us who want to fight do our thing.

Just cause the corporate media says it so doesn't mean it is. Turn off the teevee and meet real voters in your neighborhood...they'll tell you a lot more than any pollster can.

Cheers...

3. Those that established this nation daced much more overwhelming odds
as have many generations that have preserved the Union. Are we made out of so much inferior stuff that we can take take adversity?

Hell, did the Republicans fold down all year long?

They are beyond desperate, flinging whatever they can against the walls and grasping at the most insane of straws, now is the time for us to push back hard. They are entrenched and have every advantage but they are faltering nonetheless.

Be relentless and we will take them down.

4. We all need to study election integrity and push for paper ballots.
For an excellent review of election integrity issues, please see Stealing AMerica: Vote by Vote.

It is the best of the 5 or so movies I've seen on the topic. Provides a few excellent charts and graphs to illustrate the statistical anomalies of recent election results.

It also has great compilation of TV footage from those disturbing election nights.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wrote a great article in Rolling Stone about Election 2004:

5. I've noticed that the republicans who support Obama are much more optimistic than the dems
I think its because we suffer from PTSD after what happened in 2000 and 2004. We can't imagine we can win.

But it won't stop me from giving the maximum in dollars and time.

At this point in my life, I'm doing it for my kids.
