Is Obama playing rope-a-dope?
Laying back, letting his opponent exhaust himself, saving his strength (money) for an 8th round barrage (the debates).
I don't think they are really doing this. But if the Palin strategy fails (we can only hope that enough people wake up to her soon.) he has the resources and the resolve for a strong finish.

3. All that was old is new again.
We are also getting endless repeats of those other 2004 standbys: cellphones and the youth votes. Remember those?

4. Okay, I admit it's
wishful thinking. But in regards to Kerry, he laments that one of the things that really hurt him was that he did not have the resources to stay competitive in several states near the end of the campaign. They did not have money for commercials in States like Virginia. Obama does not have that problem and can finish strong.

5. The election is NOW . Voting has begun
Early Voting
About half the states--23, to be exact--offer some sort of early voting. Early voting differs from absentee voting in that voters may visit an election official’s office or, in some states, other satellite voting locations, and cast a vote in person without offering an excuse for not being able to vote on election day. Satellite voting locations vary by state, and may include other county and state offices (besides the election official’s office), grocery stores, shopping malls, schools, libraries, and other locations. Early voting generally is conducted on the same voting equipment used in the regular election, as opposed to absentee voting, which is conducted on mail-in paper ballots. The time period for early voting varies from state to state, but most often it is available during a period of 10-14 days before the election, generally ending on the Friday or Saturday immediately preceding the election.

Early Voting

The following states permit in-person early voting at election offices and, in some states, other satellite locations.

Alaska
Nebraska

Arizona
Nevada

Arkansas
New Mexico

California
North Carolina

Colorado
North Dakota*

Florida
Oklahoma

Georgia
Tennessee

Hawaii
Texas

Indiana
Utah

Iowa
Vermont

Kansas
West Virginia

Maine

Sorry for the offset table

6. I think so. Ads will be more effective when the Palin "glow" diminishes a bit more...
That won't happen for another week at least.

8. The Obama Camp has Eroded the McCain brand in about ten days
Rope-a-dope has nothing to do with it. They have aggressively and in an under-the-radar manner tagged McCain/Palin as liars and frauds, an impressive feat given McCain's status in the popular imagination.

9. I wouldn't call it "rope-a-dope" but it does appear they are saving the best for last.
I think their key strategy is ensure a peak during the final 2-3 weeks prior to the election.

10. No competent politician is ever intentionally behind. Ever. Not for ten seconds.
