No, Her actions make her a backslider
She needs a dose of the Holy Spirit to help her straighten up her act

17. Are you familiar with that doctrine?
The fundies take it quite literally, and use it to rationalize the bad behavior of their flock. I grew up watching that bullshit up close.

I wasn't being flippant by pointing out that doctrine; it's the key to understanding the heart of their dysfunction.

25. Not quite the same doctrine-wise; but I'm not sure we even disagree here.
My point is that this has nothing to do with setting an example, and everything to do with using that doctrine as a get out of jail free card to rationalize bad behavior.

7. There are probably some
who believe that being saved is license to sin (Paul in the Bible was very critical of these folks). If you are certain that you are saved, at least for some people, your actions don't matter.

Or, Palin doesn't really believe in God and is just using religion as a tool in her attempts to gain power.

10. I've known fundamentalists
who seemed to think they could do whatever they wanted to as long as they took Communion every Sunday--that rite cleared the slate, as it were. Perhaps Palin believes something like this.

She's "saved" by her own admission

Lying is a sin and a saved person wouldn't be doing that

religion yet, but he claims membership in a Baptist church w/o moving a letter, or being baptized into the Church and his attendance there is prollee once every 4 years. I wonder if she will negotiate foreign policy in tongues?

24. Sin on Friday, repent on Sunday
Rinse, wash, repeat.

Sorry I got drunk and beat the wife and kids. I'm sorry, Jeebus.

I can do this as many times as I want, 'cause Jeebus lubs me no matter what, and if I say I'm sorry, he forgives me. Every time.

However, unrepentant unbeliever that you are, no matter what you do, no matter how good a life you lead, are going to HELL.

And my Pastor says lying and stealing from unbelievers such as you is fine with Jeebus.

31. Traditional Christianity taught that the proper response
to God's grace was a "firm purpose of amendment." In other words, it wasn't enough to say "I accept God's forgiveness," but to prove it through your words and actions. The modern fundamentalists have thrown out the latter requirement. They see salvation as a free pass. So long as they get their spiritual ticket punched once a week, they can say or do anything, and it's OK. That's why it has become so popular, particularly with sociopaths.
