Discussion with "undecided" Repuke friend yesterday |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 10:41 AM by DeposeTheBoyKing
Yesterday I had a heated telephone discussion with my friend (let's call her Poopyhead, because if she continues this way of thinking I will find her too stinky to remain my friend). She always votes Repuke, loves Bush (thinks he's HANDSOME - :puke:), but says she's "undecided" this time. She had previously told me there was something about Obama she just didn't like - she couldn't put her finger on it, but she didn't like him. I said, "He's BLACK." She denied that that's it, but COME ON; we're both from small town Kansas, and somehow I escaped El Dorado with a very broad mind, much more so than her Douglass mind (an even smaller community). I laid out some points against McCain, and then she said, "But there's a woman on the ticket!" At that point I lost it and yelled at her. "SHE'S A LIAR! SHE DIDN'T SELL THAT PLANE ON EBAY - SHE SOLD IT TO A PRIVATE CONTRIBUTOR AT A LOSS! SHE KILLS WOLVES FROM HELICOPTERS! SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN ABORTION EVEN IN CASES OF RAPE, INCEST OR TO SAVE THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER! SHE WANTS TO BRING ON ARMAGEDDON AND GET RAPTURED!" She said, "I haven't heard any of this!" and I said, "You gotta stop watching Fox!" She said she still had to think about it.
"But there's a woman on the ticket!" SO????? What if it were Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears (they're too young, but...) Would you STILL vote Repuke because "there's a woman on the ticket!"? They're just about as qualified as Sarah Palin is!
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Edited to add even more delightful Palin beliefs :banghead:

1. I don't know how old she is |
|
But ask her if she voted (would have voted) for Mondale/Ferraro. That would be a REALLY low blow to a lifelong repub.

4. She'll be 46 next month |
|
I am quite certain she didn't vote for Mondale/Ferraro - I don't think she has ever voted for a Democrat. Her mom is a Democrat - I really don't know how much her father knows or cares about politics. She claimed early this year that she liked John Edwards, so I guess there is SOME hope for her.
This is a woman who MADE A CHOICE to become a single mother - she got pregnant by a guy she wanted to be her boyfriend/husband, but he was just using her for sex. She didn't tell him she was trying to get pregnant. How's that for family values? I'm not judging her for her decision - but she made the choice. The Repukes make a big deal about young Bristol making a choice, but want to deny any type of choice to other women. I can't imagine how a woman wouldn't care about that issue. But that's the thing - she said she didn't know any of the things I was telling her about Palin. Maybe I'll send her some links to this site and other lefty blogs so she can get the truth.

2. Find her an alternate candidate to voter for |
|
She loves bushco but is undecided on mcsame. That's the good news.
The whole "a woman on the ticket" is what gives her the excuse to not vote for Obama. Simple as that.

5. She said before Palin was selected that she didn't like Obama |
|
I really don't think she's racist, but why can't she come out and tell me why she doesn't like him? "There's just something about him." PLEASE. My brother said almost the same thing - "I just don't trust him." WHY????? He was a Hillary supporter. I emailed him a week or so ago and asked him if he was voting for Obama - no response yet.

In 2004 I had a good friend call the morning of election sayng she was up all night because she was so afraid Kerry would win and she was so relieved. She was a democrat when I met her. Then she maried a repub and started watchign fox during dinner. The worst part of the conversation was her being so gleeful that bushco had won. I lost it and told her she was being very insensative to my feelings. I really don't think she even thought about how I felt.
Oh, and she hated Teresa Heinz Kerry. We're still friends, but don't talk politics anymore. And the repub husband? well, he cheated, ran their finances into the ground and filed for divorce.

6. It's just astonishing how Fox can warp a person's mind |
|
We were at someone's house last Sunday to break our fast (Ramadan). The husband said he didn't see any difference between the candidates. When we arrived there the TV was turned to Fox. I said, "You gotta stop watching Fox News, for one thing!" and he immediately turned the channel and claimed he had just landed on it while channel surfing. He kept arguing with me about the candidates being the same. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!

8. This is the first time she's ever said that, though |
|
Usually she's singing Dumbass's praises, or Reagan's, or Poppy Bush's. After she talks about the glories of the Republican Party and I respond she'll say, "Let's not discuss politics." EXCUSE ME - I do not want to talk about anything else. This is too damned important.
