Dept of WTF: Rove says McCain attack ads go 'too far'
Rove: Some McCain ads don't pass '100 percent truth' test

“McCain has gone in some of his ads — similarly gone one step too far,” he told Fox News, “and sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the ‘100 percent truth’ test.”

...

The Obama campaign immediately leaped on the quote. "In case anyone was still wondering whether John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest campaign in history, today Karl Rove — the man who held the previous record — said McCain's ads have gone too far," said campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor, in a statement sent to reporters minutes after Rove’s on-air comments

How crooked and dishonest does one have to be to draw criticism from the Doughboy of Sleaze?

:wtf:

2. Wow....
I'm just amazed that anything would go too far in Rove's opinion! I think the campaign is right to jump on this... and I think they should push it hard.

6. The only time anything goes "too far" for Rove...
is when there's backlash. And there's big time backlash.

10. If they are going to use Rove
They need to use the Rove interview on Barack's consideration of VA GOV as possible VP pick.

It was on Jon Stewart's Daily Show.

12. Yes, the "inexperienced, small-city mayor...
governor of a small state..." Tim Kaine. I saw that, and I approve this message!

17. Tim Kaine
But what is really telling and powerful about the spot is that Rove says it shows that Barack doesn't really love his country, and is willing to put political gain ahead of love of country.

33. Actually that's his talent. He has an instinct as to how far to push without breaking.
And we have learned that you can push damned far with you're dealing with the American public.

That's why he's been so successful.

And we have learned that you can push damned far with you're dealing with the American public.

5. "100% truth test?"
I'm intrigued by the use of this phrase. Some things are black and white. Whether one is lying or not is one of those things. I think he's just trying to improve his image, as if it would help at this point.

9. "100% truth test?" - I know...
"Truth" is one of those 100%-or-nothing quantities. Rove is probably thinking of "Truthiness." (Dis)honest mistake.

16. Agree - in fact, I'd like to hear...
"In case anyone was still wondering whether John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest campaign in history, today Karl Rove — the man who held the previous record — said McCain's ads have gone too far," coming from Barack, instead of Tommy Vietor. To me, that would be so EXCELLENT.

then Rove has in his whole RePIGlican body.

35. Rove is basically saying that McCain is lying too much and too obviously.
McCain is swinging too wide and is leaving himself open to TONS chances for counterattack. It's up to Obama to take those chances.
